History:
(Spider-Man: Back in Black Handbook#1 - Daily Bugle entry - BTS) - David Rabinowitz was a Daily Bugle reporter.

(Amazing Spider-Man I#187 (fb) - BTS) - David Rabinowitz was tasked with getting the scoop on the cordoning off of the Indian Point area but Rabinowitz had no luck getting information due to the media blackout around the area.

(Amazing Spider-Man I#187 (fb)) - Daily Bugle publisher J. Jonah Jameson emerged from his office and spotted Rabinowitz, immediately ordering him into his office and announcing that he had been waiting on Rabinowitz's report. Rabinowitz apologized to Jameson, explaining that there had been no press conferences and information regarding Indian Point was locked up "tighter than a miser's wallet." Brushing off Rabinowitz's failure to get information, Jameson remarked on getting homilies instead of facts before monologuing aloud about which reporters to send to Indian Point instead, soon settling on photographer Peter Parker.

Comments: Created by Marv Wolfman, Jim Starlin and Bob McLeod.

David Rabinowitz was only identified by his last name in Amazing Spider-Man I#187. His first name would not be revealed until 2007's Spider-Man: Back in Black Handbook#1. Additionally, his actual position with the Daily Bugle wasn't 100% clear in Amazing Spider-Man I#187. We were told that he'd been tasked with getting information on the cordoning off of Indian Point but we weren't outright told what sort of Daily Bugle employee he was. Sure, one could've assumed that he was some sort of reporter but he could've equally been a researcher that had been tasked with checking on the status of the press in the Indian Point area. The Spider-Man: Back in Black Handbook#1 officially confirms that Rabinowitz was indeed a reporter.
