Powers/Abilities: Wealthy and elderly, Lady Nimbea used holomakeup to appear as a younger and attractive woman; however, the makeup would either wear off at midnight.

    Initially very proper, she was virtually insatiable when it came to partying, which overwhelmed her sensibilities. She would even straddle a would-be lover topless (at least) on a crowded dance floor.

History:

(The Black Incal (fb)) - Lady Nimbea S. Quinq hired John Difool, a Class-B private investigator, to act as her bodyguard on a tour of the Crimson Circle, the "red light" district of Techno City, on the condition that he took her back home before midnight.

    As the payment for this job would be 50 cublars -- a large sum of money -- Difool took the job, considering that for that amount of money he would take her to Hell and back.

(The Black Incal (fb) - BTS) - That evening, Difool took Lady Nimbea to the Crimson Circle and then even lower.

(The Black Incal (fb)) - At a placed called the Daredevil, she met the lupine semi-humanoid Kill Wolfhead and decided she wanted to finish the night with a bang. The two gyrated at least semi-nude on the dance floor, before moving to a bedroom. The two engaged, and in the head of passion, they ignored both Difool's having followed them there and even his urging Lady Quinq that there were only 10 minutes until midnight.

    Aware of Kill's legendary staying power and not wanting to lose his 50 cublars, Difool finally shot a hole through Wolfhead's ear. Frustrated as she had been just about to finish, Lady Quinq urged Wolfhead to skin Difool. Pain-maddened by the wound, Wolfhead needed little encouragement and ignored Difool's attempts to explain.

    However, as midnight struck, Lady Quinq's holomakeup powered off, and both Wolfhead and Difool were stunned to see her aged and much less attractive true form.

(The Black Incal (fb) - BTS) - Wolfhead blamed Difool for what had happened to Lady Quinq, and he chased Difool through the crowd, but Difool escaped into a ventilation shaft that was too small for Wolfhead's massive frame.

(The Black Incal) - Lady Quinq cursed out both men.

(The Black Incal (fb) - BTS) - Wandering deeper into the tunnels connecting to the shaft, Difool encountered a seeming mutant who gifted him with the Bright Incal -- a mysterious object that would grant Difool powers and transport him across space and lead him to numerous adventures -- before the "mutant" died and was revealed to a member of the alien Berg Empire, one of the factions who sought the Incal.

    Depending on the various translations, the Crimson Circle is also called the Red Ring and Techno-City Shaft City. Difool is either a Class-B P.I. or a Class-R.

    The story of THE INCAL began with Alejandro Jodorowsky's failed adaption of Frank Herbert's DUNE as a motion picture in 1973. Amongst the various artists hired by Jodorowsky were Moebius and Dan O'Bannon. In 1976, the two produced a comic book story THE LONG TOMORROW (reprinted in the MOEBIUS #4 Epic graphic novel). In it, a P.I.named Pete Club is hired by an aristocratic lady to find the Major's brain. The story takes place on an unidentified planet sometime in the far future.

When the DUNE project fell apart that same year, Jodorowsky decided to partner with Moebius and reuse some of the original concepts he had had in mind for DUNE, as well as the settings of THE LONG TOMORROW as a springboard. In the original INCAL series (5 books in France, 3 in the Epic edition), like in THE LONG TOMORROW, the story also takes place in the far future. DUNE is supposed to take place 15,000 years in the future, although that was never specified in the original novel; so maybe THE INCAL also takes place 15,000 years from now if the parallel with DUNE holds? 

As for the planet, the location of Techno City, it is (sparingly) referred to as Ter21 in the original series, implying it is a colony of some sort. 

I have not read the prequel, sequel and spin-offs of THE INCAL, which did not involve Moebius, so it is possible that Jodorowsky later changed these settings.
I'm afraid you would have to consult someone who has read all the books to give you a more factual answer.

    Jodorowsky's site summarizes the Incal saga as follows:

The Incal follows the story of John Difool, a class "R" private detective from City Shaft that one day comes into contact with the Luminous Incal, a mysterious object that grants him powers, and which different factions -such as the Bergs and the Techno-technos- are after. The Incal guides John (and his pet Deepo) first to the Center of the Planet and then to distant worlds in outer space, meeting different companions along the way. He eventually returns home, where all started, to face the Darkness, a metaphysical being threatening the political stability of the Empire and the universe itself.

    In English conventions, she would be Lady Quinq, or Nimbea Super, Lady Quinq...but there's not any reason to consider that they would match modern English conventions wherever and whenever Ter21 is.--Snood
