"PURIFICATION UNIT"
Classification: Terrestrial technology (Deviant)
Creator: Unrevealed
User/Possessors: Warlord Kro
First Appearance: Marvel: The Lost Generation I#10 (May, 2000)
Powers/Abilities/Functions: Purification Units are extermination devices concealed within the armored battlesuits Deviant soldiers wear into combat. Should the soldiers be captured or otherwise disappoint their superior officer, said superior can remote activate the Purification Units to detonate, causing powerful explosions that completely incinerate the soldiers and their armor.
History:
(Marvel: The Lost Generation I#10) - When Warlord Kro led a squad of armored Deviants to invade the Carmody Institute where the super-hero team the First Line were based in the hopes of assaulting the First Line's Pixie the Eternal, the Deviants quickly failed in combat against the First Line. From a tunnel beneath the Carmody Institute, Warlord Kro registered his disappointment in his soldiers and informed his subordinate those soldiers "must not further contaminate our gene pool." Declaring "Purify them!" Warlord Kro set off the Purification Units in his soldier's armors. The resulting explosions completely incinerated the Deviant soldiers.
Comments: Created by Roger Stern, John Byrne and Al Milgrom.
This device was not named in its sole appearance; the name is derived from the command Kro gave. It also refers to "Purity Time," the period in Deviant Lemuria where monstrous Deviant mutates were rounded up for extermination (or absorption into the Deviants' "Fifth Host").
