Powers/Abilities/Functions: Prowlers are enormous robotic doomsday weapons designed to resemble enormous panthers. Vibranium appears to be the principal design element. Prowlers are capable of locomotion while active and appear to have limited automatic defensive functions to intercept intruders within Wakandan territory. Under normal circumstances, Prowlers are given direct instructions from the person with authorization to activate them (ordindarily, a member of the Wakandan royal family). A hidden protocol to switch off the Prowlers is located in Wakanda's Techno-Jungle and can only be used via T'Challa's handprint. Prowlers have large cannons mounted in their mouths and heat beams located in their eyes.
History:
(Black Panther III#10) - While T'Challa was outside of Wakanda he left the security codes controlling the Prowlers with his mother, Queen Ramonda. In a coup, Achebe tortured Ramonda until she gave him him the codes, which Achebe used to place the Prowlers under his direct control.
(Black Panther III#11) - Achebe sent the Prowlers to begin destroying Wakanda. This drew the Black Panther back to Wakanda. Venturing into the Techno-Jungle, T'Challa activated his secret protocol to shut down the Prowlers, forcing Achebe to change his plans.
(Black Panther III#29) - When Wakanda was wrongly blamed for an attack on the U.S.S. Roussos aircraft carrier, the U.S. military launched a missile strike on Wakanda, firing two cruise missiles at Wakanda's radar nets. However, the Prowlers were already on active status and they intercepted the missiles and blasted them out of the sky before they could hit their targets.
(Incredible Hulk III#33 (fb)) - When the Hulk passed through Wakanda, three Prowlers were activated by the Wakandan Defense Forces and sent to intercept him. The Hulk destroyed one of the Prowlers before the arrival of Queen Divine Justice, who calmed down the Hulk and ended the fight.
(Black Panther III#49) - After being provoked into conflict with the Jabari tribe, the Black Panther activated at least four Prowlers for a military assault on the Jabari land. The Black Panther eventually called off the attack.
