History:
(Codename: Spitfire I#10 (fb) - BTS) - As Edmund Roth began preparing resources to create the C.I.A.'s Project: Spitfire, he brought in Anne Pollicino as a technician. Roth gave Anne files on Jake Travest and Jenny Swensen, whom he'd just sent on a mission to Afghanistan to stop Soviets who were operating MAX technology.
(Codename: Spitfire I#10) - From a C.I.A. installation on the Mediterranean, Anne monitored reports from the C.I.A.'s contact man in Afghanistan, Danjit. Later, Anne accompanied Roth in meeting up with Jenny Swensen and Jake Travest at the conclusion of their assignment in Afghanistan. Roth informed Swensen and Travest he was forming a C.I.A. team called Project: Spitfire which they would serve in.
(Codename: Spitfire I#11) - After Jenny's Spitfire armor was damaged while on assignment in Nicaragua, Anne had the armor brought to the U.S.S. Carl Vinson aircraft carrier's repair bay and sorted out how the armor's systems had been scrambled by an attack. Although Jenny was badly disoriented from the attack, she insisted on Anne assisting her in getting back into the armor so she could return to Nicaragua and rescue Jake Travest, who had been left behind. Although it was against Roth's orders, Anne helped Jenny into the armor and Jenny soon returned with Travest. Anne visited Jenny and Jake in the Carl Vinson's sick bay to celebrate their safe return but Roth informed the three of them that he considered Project: Spitfire to be an inexperienced team that had yet to prove its worth to the C.I.A.
(Codename: Spitfire I#12) - Anne operated a series of weapons to fire on Spitfire as a training exercise. When Travest and Anne both concluded that Jenny was "coasting," Roth authorized more difficult attacks. Anne launched a series of missiles at Spitfire that scattered then flew at her at various angles at once; Spitfire failed to stop the missiles from hitting her and fell from the sky. Later, Roth delivered a briefing to Project: Spitfire about the F-19A Quicksilver Fighter-Bomber prototype, which had been captured by the freelance mercenary Evan Reinger. Anne helped monitor Spitfire as she went into combat against Reinger but they discovered a series of messages inside the armor's operating system that objected to Jenny using the armor to take lives, evidently planted in the armor's programming by Karl Swensen. Jenny directed Anne to remove a disk which contained the program, allowing Jenny to maintain control over the armor and destroy Reinger.
(Psi-Force I#20/2) - On January 20, 1988, Anne accompanied Roth and Travest to the Pitt, where Jenny Swensen had gone rogue and abandoned the Spitfire armor. Colonel Browning, head of the U.S. Army's operations at the Pitt, led them to the armor and Anne cracked the armor's security code so they could access the suit. As the Army supplied materials to her, Anne worked on the armor for the next four days to bring it back to fully operational status. Roth turned the armor over to Travest and Anne helped him inside, although Colonel Browning didn't think Travest was the right man for the armor.
