History:
(Hero#3 (fb) - BTS) - Gaelen
obtained the religious title Piecekeeper for the practice of slicing
off a piece of one's slain enemies and retaining it as the tribute to
one's gods.
(Hero#3) - When the human Cody
Pace -- transported to the realm of Peregrine Magi and serving the role
of a heroic warrior -- reached to touch the wall of the Citadel of the
Slivigoth in hopes of finding a door into it, Gaelen fired an arrow to
stop him before advising him that to touch the wall would have cost him
his hand. After Gaelen introduced himself, Cody assumed him to have
said "Peacekeeper" and suspected that he was a police officer of some
sort, but Gaelen corrected him that his title was "Piecekeeper" and
explained its significance.
Addressing him as Lord Gaelen, Cody's ally Ivory
Darc told him that they -- herself, Cody, Ort and Jabot Wafloon -- were
on a quest that would bring much glory to his gods and asked him if he
would help them, and he replied that he already had. When he removed
his arrow, it shattered, and Gaelen explained that the stronghold was
protected by a spell of living darkness, and that to touch it was to
die. Nonetheless, he told them that there were other ways, and he
pulled another soul arrow, at which point Wafloon noted that he was
supposed to have seven soul-arrows but that two of the pouches were
empty; Darc suggested that perhaps that was why Gaelen was late, and
that this did not bode well.
From his depths, Gaelen issued a rumbling chant,
which rose as he nocked an arcane shaft and continued to build in
fervor until it reached a crescendo as he released the arrow into the
stronghold. Instantly, the sky curled with streaks of unclean fire
while the very air trembled, choking with sulfurous haze and the moans
of terror denied. Regardless, a large rent was torn in the wall,
allowing them access. The others praised him, but Gaelen related that
what he did, he did for his gods, after which he told the others that
they may enter.
Within the stronghold, they were welcomed by the
Slivigoth and -- despite warnings from the rest of Cody's allies -- had
a meal with them.
(Hero#3 - BTS) - However,
the
Slivigoth subsequently transported the sleeping Cody to the
wasteland outside their stronghold where he was assaulted by scorpion
creatures while they moved a boulder to block the rent Gaelen had
previously created.
(Hero#3) - When Cody cried
out for help upon finding the entrance blocked, Gaelen and Ivory rolled
the boulder out of the way to let him in and then rolled it back to
keep out the scorpion-creatures. After they told Cody who had sent him
out there, he joined them in seeking vengeance on the Slivigoths, who
were defended by their mushroom-born Guardians of the Grotto.
Eventually, Cody found the corrupt Slivigoth to keep their souls hidden
in a glowing orb that he shattered, causing them to disintegrate.
However, one of the dying Slivigoths guided one of
the Guardians to slay Cody, which caused him to be reborn in another
realm. Darc, Gaelen and the others magically transported to join Cody.
(Hero#4) - After Cody
arrived on what appeared to be a future Earth, where the Triad ruling
body had enslaved all human inhabitants and replaced them with
mechanical replicas, who attempted to arrest him upon learning he was
organic, Gaelen and the others appeared behind Cody. As Gaelen fired an
arrow at them the mob dispersed, but Ivory was concerned that they
would regroup and she led the others to a temporary sanctuary. There
she instructed Gaelen to snipe sentries while Jabot reconnoitered with
his autolocomotive eye, and Ivory and Ort handled things inside of the
government palace.
However, Cody, frustrated with feeling that his
alien associates were not telling him everything and he prepared to
depart until one of the gods of the realm then appeared. Gaelen feared
that his presence meant that he and his allies had failed, but the god
assured them that they had done all they could but that time had grown
short and that extreme measures had to be taken. The god then showed
Cody images of Golgotha and its demonic ruler, Malevolos (whom Cody had
previously encountered), and revealed how the only certain way Cody
could get back to Earth was from Golgotha. Ivory then shared that the
entrance to Golgotha was within the government palace and that as soon
as they found it they would share it with. Nonetheless, Cody resolved
to find his own way, figuring that this world likely had
teleportational means, and he insisted to find his way home on his own.
While Gaelen stated that there was no glory there,
Ort noted that Gaelen had already fired three of the seven arrows that
were powered by his soul, and that with each shot he had grown colder
and less reliable. Ivory replied that if Cody Pace failed them, there
cause was lost regardless.
They were subsequently interrupted by AMBROSE-7
(AMBulatory RObot SEries 7), who advised them against exploring the
outside world as they would be instantly spotted by Triad patrols.
Telling Gaelen and the others that he was created by transferring a
human brain without permission, Ambrose-7 noted his desire to see the
Triad dead and offered to help them.
Although Cody still departed to seek his own way,
Gaelen and the others followed Ambrose-7 through sewer tunnels.
However, they were confronted by security forces and multiple Kilobots,
and while Gaelen was prepared to fight, he accepted Ivory's advice to
surrender and conserve their resources. Reports of the group's capture
and impending executions were publicized.
As Gaelen and the others were strapped down to a
platform while magnifying rays focused in criss-cross beams as the sun
rose to dissect them, Cody -- having seen the news reports -- arrived
to rescue them. After Cody freed them and recovered their weapons,
Gaelen and the others fought attacking patrollers. When the powerful
Triad attacked them directly, Gaelen -- disregarding Ivory's
instruction to stop as he was the strongest after Cody and that they
would need his power later -- fired soul arrows into the Triad,
destroying it/them. Proclaiming "For
the gods! For the Glory!," he stood in range of the exploding
Triad and was apparently slain..

I didn't read
the whole series for this profile, and I am uncertain whether the world
on which Gaelen apparently perished was a future Earth reality or
something else.
This profile was
completed 02/19/2026, but
its publication was delayed as it was intended for the Appendix 25th
anniversary 's celebratory event.
Thanks to Loki for recommending Gaelen to represent Hero/Cody Pace.
