History: (Punisher/Painkiller Jane#1) - On her
way to use the restroom in her favorite Little Italy cafe, Painkiller
Jane stumbled onto a tall, handsome man slaughtering mafiosi of the
Veronica family. She instantly fell in love and quietly observed as the
man interrogated the only survivor, Mick, for the whereabouts of the
Veronica brothers. After he departed, Jane held Mick at gunpoint and
learned that the man was known as the Punisher. Jane trailed the
Punisher, who went inside a bar to kill more criminals; she observed the
massacre through a window which confirmed her feelings for him. Jane
followed the Punisher to his home and set out to wait in a diner across
the street.
In the morning, after the Punisher had left, she broke into his apartment, avoiding the claymore trap set up by the window. Seeing the Punisher's living space with his arsenal of weapons strewn out excited Jane even more; she put on one of his shirts and began fantasizing about a life the two of them could've had together. The Punisher returned and held Painkiller Jane at gunpoint, believing her to be a hired assassin. Jane confessed her love for him, but the Punisher kicked her out of his apartment. This did not dissuade Jane, and she spent the next several days stalking the Punisher while he was waging his war on the mob. Eventually, the Punisher drove Jane to the airport and put her on a flight to Anchorage, Alaska, which she assumed was going to be vacation for the two of them.
(Punisher/Painkiller Jane#1 - BTS) - In the adventure that followed Painkiller Jane had to parachute from a plane and kill a bear, neither of which she was happy about.
(Punisher/Painkiller Jane#1) - Upon her return, Painkiller Jane went back to Mick to learn the Punisher's current whereabouts. Mick revealed that he gave the Punisher a tip on Vinnie Veronica's yacht, moored offshore from Blueville, Cape Cod, but also that Vinnie was prepared, waiting for the Punisher with over two dozen men. Jane executed Mick and rushed to Blueville, where by the time she arrived the Punisher was captured and tortured. Emerging from the water and climbing aboard Vinnie's yacht, Jane slit the throat of the first guard before opening fire on the rest. The Punisher broke free and joined the fight, but when Vinnie's henchman Skinner had him in the crosshairs with a harpoon, Jane found herself out of ammo. To protect her love, Jane dived in front of the Punisher and was pierced by the harpoon through her abdomen. With Skinner and other gansters dead, the Punisher was surprised to find Jane still alive and reluctantly thanked her for saving his life. He consented to spend a night with Jane on the condition of her never bothering him again. By morning, the Punisher was gone, but Jane was happy and content that he would always be hers in her heart.

Painkiller Jane is a character created by Joe Quesada and Jimmy Palmiotti for Event Comics. She debuted in the 22 Brides miniseries in 1996 and received her first solo series in 1997, followed by crossovers with the Darkness (Jackie Estacado), Vampirella, Hellboy, and Darkchylde (Ariel Chylde). After the crossover with the Punisher, the character was dormant until the mid-2000s, which saw two more series and a crossover with the Terminator from Dynamite Entertainment. Another two series were released by Marvel's Icon imprint, and since then Painkiller Jane has been published by PaperFilms of Jimmy Palmiotti, writer of all her non-crossover appearances. She also starred in a television show and an unrelated television film. This profile only covers Painkiller Jane's crossover with the Punisher set on Earth-7642 and not any of the appearances in her own series or other crossovers.
Though 22 Brides and her first solo series give her different origin stories (and the Dynamite Entertainment series contain references to both), the common element is that Jane Vasko was an undercover police officer who was targeted by the mob after being exposed, and the attempted assassination resulted in her gaining superhuman healing abilities. The television film gives her the name "Jane Browning", while the television series spells her name as "Jane Vasco", but the appearance of Earth-7642 Jane preceded those and therefore she is assumed to have the same name as the comic variant(s).

intended for the Appendix 25th anniversary's celebratory
event to represent Painkiller Jane.

(Punisher/Painkiller Jane#1) - The Punisher and Painkiller started dating; during one date the Punisher shot up cinema-goers who were talking during the movie.
The Punisher and Painkiller got married; the Punisher shot up the priest performing the ceremony and apparently the guests as well.
The Punisher and Painkiller had three children: a girl and two boys, the youngest named Tim. They settled into a family routine full of violence, and Jane found it absolutely perfect.
