History:
(Spellbound II#1-2 (fb) - BTS) - Long ago the Spellbinder only known as
the the Other tried to conquer another dimension.
(Spellbound II#5 (fb) - BTS) - Zxaxz created the conversion rings to stop the Other.
(Spellbound II#1-2 (fb) - BTS) - Zxaxz usurped the Other's powers and drove him back, keeping the Other from destroying the universe.
(Spellbound II#2 (fb) - BTS) - Zxaxz was eventually driven mad by using the powers he had usurped.
(Spellbound II#2 (fb) - BTS) - Years later the Other began stirring again, but Zxaxz was too mad to protect the universe from him. His servants Snaarl and Snugg began training a new Spellbinder (Erica Fortune) on Earth so that she could take Zxaxz's place fighting the Other.
(Spellbound II#6) - In another dimension the Other's scrying crystal showed him two Spellbinders fighting. He watched as Erica Fortune tried to subvert Zxaxz like Zxaxz had subverted the Other long ago because Spellbinders could not tolerate the existence of another Spellbinder. The Other realized that Zxaxz was too mad to realize how dangerous Erica Fortune was. The Other though was just bored and wished to be in a battle and feel destruction around him again. The Other's apprentice was surprised that despoiling this dimension wasn't enough for the Other, but the mocking words angered the Other so much that he attacked his insolent apprentice and removed his lips, teeth and jaws to stop him from talking. The Other then traced the battle of the Spellbinders because even though Spellbinders had opposed him since the dawn of time, he was always victorious in the end. He was ready to see another Spellbinder go mad and die and be replaced by the next one, only for the Other to endure in the end.
The Other finally divined the route to the backwater dimension where Earth was located. He told his apprentice to study it because they would soon journey there after one of the Spellbinders had killed the other and the winner to exhausted enough for the Other to slay him or her to become the sole Spellbinder.
The Other traveled through an interdimensional portal to Earth where Erica and Zxaxz were both struggling against each other and Erica's brother Roy, who had taken the Conversion Bands and Zxaxz's crown with the help of Zxaxz's former allies Snugg and Snaarl. The Other felt how strong the forces of order and chaos were within Erica and asked which path she was going to choose. Erica asked Roy to return Zxaxz's crown to him so that he could aid her in the battle against the Other, who posed a threat to both of them. The Other mocked their attempts to work together and enlarged his apprentice into a giant monster to send him after Zxaxz, whom he didn't even consider a real threat anymore, and just wanted distracted from the real battle. Erica attacked the Other, but lacked the power to vanquish him with her raw, but unskilled powers. The Other released sparkles that would disintegrate Erica, but Snaarl warned her and she destroyed the threat. The Other's apprentice lost his eyes in battle with Zxaxz and the Other promised to restore them if he finally defeated Zxaxz. The apprentice succeeded, but maintaining his powers and the battle against Erica also drained the Other. Snaarl took the opportunity to jump at the Other with a spear, but was easily swapped away. The local authorities attacked the giant apprentice, which hurt the Other as well. Snaarl took a machine gun and tried to shoot the Other, but his mind and body were beyond the physical plane. The Other retrieved the powers he had granted to his apprentice to finally defeat Erica, but Zxaxz made a truce with Erica and they combined their powers take the Other through a portal to his own dimension where they could finally defeat him. Erica left the conversion rings with her brother before she flew with Zxaxz and the Other through the portal.

The Other had a mysterious glyph (see right image) on his necklace. I wonder what it meant.
It was never made clear whether he was mad like all the other Spellbinders or not. His actions seemed mad, but maybe he was just evil.
