Powers/Abilities: Necrosis was a powerful occultechnologist and necromancer, able to disrupt mystic wards, fire magical energy blasts and open portals to nether realms.
He combined the magic of
(presumably human) sacrifice with other occult item as well as with
computers that could decode and calculate equations to enhance his
powers.
The Skin Cage within his chest increased his power every time he committed murder.
Following his lobotomy and the
destruction of the Skin Cage, he presumably cannot function without
assistance.
History:
(2099 Unlimited#4/2 (fb) - BTS) - Necrosis studied the
occultechnological for over 40 years.
(2099 Unlimited#4/2 (fb) - BTS) - Having
glimpsed other mystic planes above and beyond his own but felt that he
was tethered to the mundane realm by his own weakness.
(2099 Unlimited#4/2) - After Doctor Pylon summoned the mystic Hand of Tiamat, Necrosis confronted him and instructed him to surrender the Hand or he would kill him. Pylon attempted to fight back, but Necrosis blasted him and then opened a mystic portal where beings with spikey tentacles apparently pulled him in and likely fed on him. At Pylon's query as to why he was killing him, Necrosis told him because he loved the Hand and because Pylon was stupid.
(2099 Unlimited#4/2 - BTS) - The Mantic Gallery alerted Metalscream and his disciple, Litany Kirkpatrick, of the threat of the Hand of Tiamat. After Metalscream discovered the death of Pylon, Litany located Necrosis' base via the Gallery.
(2099 Unlimited#4/2) - Necrosis considered
that in order to ascend to a higher plane, he needed to commit
genocide, and that his machine had broken the Hand's coder and were
solving the equation to control it. As it was his act that would summon
Tiamat, every murder that being committed would power his Skin Cage and
that his power would be incalculable.
He was interrupted by the arrival of Metalscream, who ordered him to shut down his machines or he would kill Necrosis and then kill Tiamat itself. While Necrosis rightly figured that nothing could kill Tiamat, the distraction allowed Metalscream to locate his decoding machines, which he then destroyed.
Appreciating that Metalscream had robbed him of his one chance at ascension, Necrosis threatened to kill and devour him, but Litany then shot him through the chest, dislodging and shattering his Skin Cage. With Necrosis' power stripped, Metalscream mystically lobotomized him, incapacitating him and causing him to fall down the stairs.
As Necrosis lied on the ground, drooling,
Metalscream explained that for the rest of his life, Necrosis would
remember magic but could never even regain the coordination to commit
suicide.
