Powers/Abilities/Functions: Multivac is an enormous computer housed at a secure location at the Massachusetts Academy. Multivac could identify mutants through the psionic energy they emitted when they used their abilities. Multivac could then pinpoint their location on a map. Multivac had at least six terminals that were staffed at all times.

History:
(Firestar I#1) - The White Queen checked in on Multivac and asked the men stationed there as guards whether any new mutants had been detected. The guards informed her that no new mutants had been found. The White Queen was disappointed, as her Hellfire Club needed new recruits to serve their cause. Examining Multivac, the White Queen saw one of the terminals was unmanned, as the staff member had arisen to get a cup of coffee. Irate, the White Queen blasted the staffer with psionic energy upon his return, reminding him they were in a "deadly race" with Charles Xavier.

    Some time later, one of the staff members at Multivac detected the psionic energy of Angelica Jones, a mutant in New Jersey. The staff member at the monitor told another staffer to bring the White Queen. As the White Queen joined the staffer at the monitor, they identified the mutant as a young female. The readings dropped when she stopped using her power but the White Queen told the staffer to continue monitoring for that frequency.

    Months later, Angelica used her powers again and this time, Multivac identified her location. The White Queen set out immediately and recruited Angelica into the Massachusetts Academy.

    Multivac's name is derived from ENIAC, the first digital computer, built in 1945. Note that "vac" indicates the use of vacuum tubes, which isn't cutting-edge technology today. For that matter, Multivac's massive size is also reminiscent of ENIAC. It suggests that Multivac was inferior to Charles Xavier's compact Cerebro computer.

    It's safe to assume Multivac was used by Emma Frost to locate all of the Hellions but it hasn't been verified.

    This profile was completed on 01/07/2026 but its publication was delayed, as it was intended for the Appendix's 25th anniversary celebratory event.
