History:
(Marines in Action I#2/4 (fb)) - Captain Allan Moseby served with the U.S. Marines in the Korean War. Among those in his command was Sgt. Ben Boyce. When their tanks were in battle against Communist tanks, Moseby sent Boyce on a one-man patrol to scout enemy positions, as sending more than one soldier would have made them easy to spot. Boyce did so but stopped to destroy a communications post to cripple the enemy's forces. Concerned that Boyce had been away too long, Moseby came after him and caught to Boyce as he was pinned down by enemy soldiers. Moseby killed the Communist troops. As Boyce was wounded, he carried him back to their lines. As they returned to their base, Moseby explained that as an officer, he cared for all the men in his command but he couldn't go easy on his men if he wanted to maintain their respect. Moseby put Boyce in for a citation for his work on the patrol then busted his rank down to private for disobeying orders.

(Marines in Action I#2/4) - Captain Moseby led a team of U.S. Marines to hold Chindongni from the Communist forces. A number of new recruits arrived on the scene, including Private Arnold Cullen. Moseby was strict towards Cullen as he was introduced to combat on the front line. At one point, he angrily complained Cullen wasn't firing his weapon. At another time, he objected to Cullen smoking on duty, as his cigarette smoke would give their position to enemy artillery. Moseby was adamant that when the 5th Regimental Combat Team came to relieve their squad, they would see they hadn't lost one inch of ground to the enemy.

    When the fighting quieted down, Moseby ordered Sgt. Boyce (who had again been promoted) to take Cullen, Schwartz, Castro and Denkin on a patrol to scout what the enemy was doing. During the patrol, Boyce told the novice soldiers about the time Captain Moseby saved his life, helping them to understand Moseby's stern behavior. When Boyce returned to Moseby to report the enemy had pulled out, Moseby told the squad to prepare for their own departure, as the 5th would soon be relieving them from the front line.

Sgt. Ben Boyce served under Captain Moseby's command in the Korean War. Other Marines had heard of Boyce by reputation, claiming he been "busted four or five times." Sgt. Boyce was once sent by Moseby on a one-man patrol where he scouted enemy positions but stopped to destroy a communications post. He was nearly caught or killed by the enemy but Moseby saved his life. Moseby put him in for a citation but also busted him down to private for disobeying orders. Later, when he was again a sergeant, Boyce was sent by Moseby to lead four novice soldiers on a patrol. Boyce and the other soldiers discovered the enemy had retreated from their position.

Private Arnold Cullen

Private Arnold Cullen was a young enlisted man who joined the U.S. Marines to fight in the Korean War. He was new to combat when he arrived to serve under Captain Moseby's command and found Moseby to be a tough leader, as he was repeatedly criticized for not shaping up as Moseby wanted him to. While on a patrol with Sgt. Boyce, Cullen heard how Moseby had saved Boyce's life and learned Moseby was actually very concerned for his men but wouldn't go easy on them because he needed them to respect him. After that, Cullen gained respect for Moseby's leadership.
