Powers/Abilities/Functions: The Molecular Condenser projects a ray that reduces any person or object which it focuses upon. If it remains focused on an object long enough, it sends its target into a state of timeless limbo; apparently the target will remain in this state for several months.
History:
(Daredevil I#8) - The Molecular Condenser was invented by Carl Kaxton. While it was still in the experimental stage, Kaxton's embittered former employee Wilbur Day stole technology from Kaxton to become the Silt-Man, then came back to Kaxton's laboratory steal the Molecular Condenser as well. Just as Wilbur had taken the Molecular Condenser, Daredevil attacked Wilbur but Wilbur escaped him and donned the stilts from his Stilt-Man suit to escape Kaxton's property. When Daredevil pursued him, Wilbur began firing the Molecular Condenser at Daredevil but failed to hit him. Using his gimmick billy club, Daredevil snagged the Molecular Condenser with a cable and accidentally pressed down the device's trigger. As the Molecular Condenser was facing the Silt-Man it caused him to rapidly shrink in size. Wilbur begged Daredevil to save him but as neither man understood how the Molecular Condenser worked, there was nothing they could do and the Stilt-Man shrank from sight (or radar sense, if you prefer).
(Daredevil I#26 (fb)) - Wilbur Day spent months trapped in a state of timeless limbo until the effects of the Molecular Condenser faded and he returned to the same place he'd vanished from, back to his normal size.
(Daredevil I#102 (fb)) - Stilt-Man eventually went after Carl Kaxton again. Taking Kaxton's daughter Barbara hostage, he ordered Kaxton to rebuild and perfect his Molecular Condenser so that he could use it to gain revenge on Daredevil and ransom money from the city of San Francisco.
(Daredevil I#102) - Kaxton continued to labor over the new Molecular Condenser while Stilt-Man obtained the parts he required through criminal means. When Kaxton had finished his work, Stilt-Man took the ray and Barbara to Golden Gate Bridge, intending to shrink the bridge as a demonstration of his power. When Daredevil's comrade the Black Widow intervened and rescued Barbara from him, Stilt-Man tried to fire the Molecular Condenser at the Black Widow but she snagged the device using her Widow's Line, pulling it from his hand; the Molecular Condenser fell into a garbage-strewn alley.
After Daredevil and the Black Widow defeated the Silt-Man, a homeless man named Eddie found the Molecular Condenser in the alley, thinking it was a gun. When Eddie took a closer look at the Molecular Condenser he assumed it was a toy and hurled it into a garbage can.
