(Maxum Games (Demons of Mercy) (fb) - BTS) - At the age of 10, Mercy took on Damon Winter's trained goons. She impressed Hayes (presumably part of the Philadelphia Police Department (PPD) or perhaps some higher agency).

Working as an assassin, Mercy killed hundreds of men.

(Maxum Games (Demons of Mercy)) <October 30, 2012> - At the opening/charity ball of the New Delphian Museum, Mercy was targeting the unidentified speaker (whom she considered to be a "low-lie scum"), but she was spotted by an unidentified man.

As she fled, she spotted the man's eyes glowing with green energy, but the distraction caused her to run right into Hayes who arrested her.

As Mercy refused to answer Hayes' questions while in police custody, Damon Winters' lawyers showed up and advised her silence. However, Mercy insisted that she didn't want anything to do with Winters, and the lawyers departed with a warning that Mr. Winters would not be happy.mercy-78152-nunchaksword

Hayes advised Mercy that he could put her in the slammer for crimes committed as a kid and that he would find out what she had been planning to do that night in the museum.

When she continued to refuse to provide any information, he offered her the alternative of investigating an apparent serial, nightly killing of prostitutes under the Hollow Bridge.

Hayes further explained that two of his best female undercover officers had disappeared during such investigation but he felt from experience that she was strong and tough and that no one could take her down. mercy-78152-vsdemon

Given the choices of prison or accepting the assignment, Mercy asked when she started.

Later that night, dressed like a hooker, Mercy spent hours wandering the streets and alleys fruitlessly before finding a terrified young woman hiding by a dumpster.

As she talked to the confused girl, Mercy touched her wrist, somehow activating a glowing bracelet, after which she heard another woman scream.

Mercy brought the girl with her to investigate, only to see the girl's attacker transform into a demonic being that tore her apart.

Apparently transforming her nunchaks into a sword via some energy, she attacked the demon, wounding it but then taking a glowing projectile through her left latissimus dorsi region.

She subsequently apparently destroyed the demon creature with her sword, although she had a feeling that this was far from over.

Comments: Created by R.H. Stavis.

     Courtesy of IGN.COM:

"The comic and game center around a gorgeous assassin named Mercy Dawn. An orphan adopted by the mob and trained by the Yakuza, Mercy has returned to the United States seeking revenge. Instead, she finds herself caught in a vicious war between Heaven and Hell, and only she holds the key to humanity's salvation."
"We are really excited about how we are enhancing the game by including exclusive hints and secret features within the comic series. We were also very lucky to find R.H. Stavis," said James Jacoby, game producer for Maxum. "Her background with Tomb Raider, and her ability to create fantastic characters and daring storylines, made for the perfect match."
"It's a wonderful challenge to be telling this story in two different ways: the concise, linear comic; and the broad, non-linear game," said Stavis. "Fans will get the opportunity to see the same story in completely different mediums, with new information each time."

However, she's just called Mercy in the comics.
According to everywhere I searched, six issues were intended, but when the video game it was based upon was canceled, the subsequent issues of this miniseries were canceled as well

Courtesy of Loki, who suggested Mercy to represent the series:

There was an #0 released at San Diego Comic Con in 2006, though it likely contained mostly material from the subsequent #1.

I note that Comicvine and the Marvel fan wiki claim the lead character's surname is Winters. However IGN and various other sites that seem to all be quoting the same Previews style blurbs call her Mercy Dawn. The error (and it is an error) seems to be because some lawyers show up to stop the cops interrogating Mercy, and one cop says that they are "Winter's lawyers" - however, her reaction makes it clear they are not lawyers she has retained, but instead ones sent by Damon Winters - when she rejects their help one of the lawyers states that "Mr. Winters will not be pleased."

And that's all there is...if anyone is willing, able and has the time, Hayes, the demon creature, the two unidentified prostitutes, Mercy's unidentified target and the man with the glowing eyes could all get sub-profiles and/or full profiles.

This profile was completed 03/31/2026, but its publication was delayed as it was intended for the Appendix 25th anniversary 's celebratory event.
