History:
(Mystic Comics I#4/7) - Matsu had his agents arrange the collapse of a train bridge. The mystic hero Merzah was aboard the train and had it stop just as it went over the bridge; however, Merzah was in the rear of the train and wasn't part of the wreck. After hearing the bridge had collapsed, Matsu ordered his subordinate Ivan to contact fellow agent Nasaki that they were leaving by airplane to New York. In New York, Nasaki hid a message in a cigarette that he smuggled to Matsu informing him Merzah was at the Astor Hotel. Matsu told his agents to meet at 98 Pearl Street.
To draw Merzah into a trap, Matsu's men contacted Merzah's ally Diana Lanford, telling her where Matsu was based. When Merzah and Diana came to the home, Matsu's men quickly overwhelmed Merzah and tied up Diana and him. However, Merzah contacted his ally Jose Aberjaron, who followed Matsu as he transferred Diana and Merzah to a mansion in Long Island.
Jose stormed the mansion grounds and untied Merzah and Diana. As the three began fighting Matsu's spies, Matsu fled out a window and drove away in a sedan, trying to evade them. Merzah and Jose followed in their roadster; Matsu was so nervous that he lost control of his sedan and drove into a tree, killing himself in the crash.
