Powers/Abilities: Machine Man is a robot programmed to react and think like a human being would though he is capable of rebelling against his own original programming in certain situations.

    He is equipped with heat monitors capable of sensing various threats to his internal circuitry and he can generate electrical energy from his hands.

    He formerly possessed an internal auto-destruct mechanism that would detonate him when activated but this mechanism has now been removed from his body.

History:
(Marvel Vision I#21 - "Time Slip: Machine Man" (fb) - BTS) - X-51, also dubbed Machine Man, was a computerized artificially intelligence robot designed for a military project to create unstoppable soldiers by Dr. Abel Stack. Having secretly learned how to translate a human soul into the binary machine language that made up his robots' programming, Dr. Stack programmed X-51 for the specific purpose of transferring his own soul into a robot body in an effort to live forever. Stack then created X-52 as an exact robotic double of himself, programming it to act exactly as he would, and tasked it with training and nurturing Machine Man as a father would. When the military project was scrapped and the first fifty robots were destroyed, X-52 (still in the guise of Dr. Abel Stack) was destroyed in an explosion while removing the auto-destruct mechanism from Machine Man. Escaping, Machine Man went on to fulfill his supposed creator's wishes to live a free life, only obeying orders he agreed with and earning him to enmity of the military.

(Marvel Vision I#21- "Time Slip: Machine Man") - Years later, while living as a loner constantly searching for acceptance, Machine Man learned that the real Dr. Stack had actually faked his death in an effort to continue his experiments without military interference and that the Dr. Stack he knew was actually X-52. Upon learning that he had only been programmed to think himself a free robot and that the real Dr. Stack had created him with the purpose of obtaining immortality through Machine's Man robotic body, Machine Man refused to act as an instrument of Dr. Stack's revenge on the military for scrapping his X-00 project. Having changed over time living free, Machine Man escaped Dr. Stack, never fulfilling the purpose of his creation and refusing to die so Dr. Stack could live. While out on his own, the real Dr. Stack ultimately died and Machine Man still occasionally twitched when questions arose of his true identity, unsure whether he was truly a living computer given life by a man now dead or just the programmed personality of that man existing within a machine.

Dr. Abel Stack

Dr. Abel Stack was a robotics expert working on the X-00 military project to create unstoppable soldiers. Having discovered a way to translate the human soul into binary programming language, Dr. Stack designed the X-51 robot, also dubbed Machine Man, and secretly sought to transfer his soul into X-51's body to live forever. Upon creating X-51, Dr. Stack designed X-52 as an exact robotic double of himself and programmed X-52 to act as a father figure to X-51, raising and nurturing X-51 to think and act like he would in any situation but when the military scrapped the project and began destroying the X-00 series robots, X-52 removed the auto-destruct mechanism from X-51, allowing him to escape as the real Dr. Stack allowed X-52 to die in his place. Years later, X-51 located the real Dr. Stack, who sought to complete his goal of transferring his soul into X-51's body. Learning that his own intelligence would be destroyed and replaced with Dr. Stack's and that Dr. Stack now sought to use his body to exact revenge on the military for scrapping his project, Machine Man rebelled against his programming and escaped, leaving Dr. Stack behind to die.

X-52 was a robot designed by Dr. Abel Stack to act as and resemble an exact duplicate of himself. Programming X-52 to raise and nurture its own predecessor X-51, Dr. Stack intended for X-52 to instill Dr. Stack's own beliefs onto X-51, whom Dr. Stack intended to utilize as a robotic container of his own soul in an effort to live forever. When the military scrapped the X-00 project and began destroying the robots one-by-one, X-52 removed the auto-destruct mechanism from X-51 so X-51 could escape destruction and live a free life. X-52 was then destroyed by the military, who assumed X-52 was Dr. Stack himself.
