History:

lupa-88632-s1-3-fullishlupa-88632-s1-3-attack(Scimidar I#3 (fb) - BTS) - As part of Ectasy's monthly "food fight," Lupa (or at least the woman who would become known as Lupa) was held in captivity and starved for an unrevealed time period while razor-sharp steel fingernails were implanted into each of her fingers and thumbs.

(Scimidar I#3) - As Ecstasy's empathic guest, Scimidar, watched (initially revulsed but ultimately sharing the feelings of those involved in the event), "Lupa" and her associated were released into an arena with a table of gourmet food observed by a cheering crowd of Ecstasy's paying customers.

Rushing to the food, Lupa and her fellow participants tore each other apart to claim the meal. Ultimately, Lupa slew the male last-remaining competitor, and she devoured the food, heedless of the blood and guts on and around her.

lupa-88632-s2-4-face-masked(Scimidar II#4 (fb) - BTS) - Lupa was returned to her cage, where she dreamed about ripping out Ecstasy's heart.

A week later, Ecstasy ordered all of her people to evacuate the complex. One of the guards got too close, and Lupa tore out his throat and then used his keys to set herself free. Preparing to have to fight her way to freedom, she was surprised to find the casino empty, with the exception of one bartender, who told her where Ecstasy had gone. After stealing some money for herself, she traveled to Ecstasy's mansion only to find it in flames, as Scimidar had already killed her.

Lupa vowed to kill Scimidar for robbing her of her vengeance against Ecstasy. She did research on Scimidar in preparation for this, concluding that she was a pampered rich bitch.

(Scimidar II#4 (fb)) - Lupa ambushed Scimidar, knocking her out, after which she brought her back to her base, taking away her hand weapons.

(Scimidar II#4) - When Scimidar revived, Lupa mocked her confusion and told her that she had four rooms to get through, each of which included its own surprises; if she remained where she was, she would simply starve to death.

Scimidar made it through the rooms, the first of which had automatically firing machine guns, the second a robot clown firing darts (likely poison-tipped) and with a helicopter-blade like hand and the third projected a series of bamboo shoots that threatened to impale her. After Scimidar made it through the third room, Lupa removed her mask, and Scimidar recognized her from Ectasy's arena.

Disgusted upon learning why Lupa was putting her through this, Scimidar broke off some bamboo and used it to vault up to Lupa. Avoiding her own weapons initially and eventually Lupa's claws, Scimidar eventually rolled and flipped Lupa into the fourth room, where she was apparently killed by poison gas.

It looks like her storyline eventually progressed in at least one novel published in 2017. The novel says "Set in a post apocalyptic world of the far future..."

Courtesy of Loki, who suggested Lupa to represent Scimidar for the event:

One of the early examples of the "super tough bad girls" trend in comics from the late 80s / 1990s. She's a "psychic bloodhound" able to track people and armed with blades that extend from the back of her costume's wrists. Better than average writing and art for Eternity Comics, if overly reliant on excessive violence, sex and nudity, and some very disturbing villains.

In terms of Scimidar vs Scimitar, I suspect they just thought it felt cooler than the correct spelling - a bit like calling a character the X-Cutioner rather than Executioner, or Magik rather than Magic.

The apocalyptic world of the far future setting in the novel may make it a different reality than the comic book version.

Earth-88632 During the height of the A.I.D.S. epidemic in 1992, U.S. purchased the Baja Peninsula from Mexico and shipped all its gay people there to quarantine them off. The disease was unexpectedly cured in 1994, and Baja promptly seceded to become an autonomous state. Scimidar operated as deadly empathetic tracker in the year 2005 A.D.. Scimidar #1 (1988)
