History:
(Riot#6/3 (fb) - BTS) -
Loona was a jungle queen, though not all the natives were fans.
(Riot#6/3) -
Loona escaped an attack by hostile natives by jumping into a
shark-infested river. She then drove off into the jungle in her camelac,
heading towards the land of the sabre-toothed tiger while griping about
having received another parking ticket, but as she raced through the
jungle her sixth sense warned her of danger ahead, subtly suggested by
the animals fleeing in terror and the multiple large written signs
stating there was danger ahead. When she pulled over she was startled to
hear a voice from the bushes inform her there were hostile natives
nearby, and when she asked the voice how it knew the speaker said it was
"just a hunch" and revealed himself to be the great white hunter Harry
Handsome, painted white and peppered with arrows.
Loona treated his wounds with a mixture of herbs,
medicines and her secret chicken-fat formula, but he begged her to go no
further, not just because of the hostile natives, but also because there
was a dangerous sabre-toothed tiger in the area. Calling him a silly
boy, Loona confidently stated that she was not afraid of a mere tiger,
then leapt terrified into Harry's arms when it roared nearby. Sensing
the need for protection, Loona summoned her faithful elephant friend
Jumbo using her special jungle cry, "JUMMMBO!!" The pachyderm
arrived almost instantaneously, unintentionally stamping on both Loona
and Harry and driving them into the ground. Seeing what he had done, the
elephant gently lifted Loona free with his trunk, then pulled Harry out
and violently squeezed him, prompting Loona to comment that Jumbo tended
to be very jealous of her gentlemen friends. Another tiger roar caused
Jumbo to rear up in fright, but Loona reassured Harry that the elephant
was utterly fearless. As Jumbo fled at high speed screaming, Loona
rationalized that he must have been worried he'd hurt the tiger and
declared he was all heart. Just then Harry informed her they were done
for, as he had spotted the tiger approaching. Looking at the beast,
Loona unsheathed her knife and announced that it was a man-eater, but
reassured Harry that she loved him and would not stand by and watch him
be eaten. Quivering, Harry asked her what she was going to do, so Loona
leapt in her car and shot off, shouting back that she was going to run
for the hills.
A little later Loona was keeping an
ever-faithful watch over her beloved animal friends, and more
specifically over the ape Goo-Moo, who she suspected might be trying to
cheat during their craps game.
Comments: Created by Stan Lee and Bill Everett.
It isn't confirmed, but I suspect Loona comes
from the same reality as the parody characters seen in Not Brand Ecch,
Marble Earth. Of course, she might come from one of the realities seen
in other humor titles like What The...?! or Crazy, or an entirely
different and unrelated one.
Loona doesn't appear alongside any character
whose height is officially known, but she's a version of Lorna, and
Lorna appears in Women of Marvel #1 (2024), where her single panel cameo
has her standing near the goddess Venus (or the identical looking
Siren). It's not an ideal comparison placement, but she looks to be a
little shorter than Venus' 5'6".

Harry Handsome was a famous white hunter and
friend of Loona's. He encountered a group of natives and deduced
that they were unfriendly after they shot him with several
arrows; he also got covered with white paint, but whether that
was part of the attack or he did it to himself is unrevealed.
Shortly thereafter he encountered Loona and warned her about the
natives. She treated his wounds and removed the paint, making
him feel as good as new despite the large holes left in his
torso. He begged Loona to go not further, not only because of
the natives but also because there was a sabre-toothed tiger in
the area. Loona insisted she wasn't afraid of a mere tiger, then
leapt into his arms in fright when it roared nearby. Loona
called on her elephant friend Jumbo to provide protection, but
Jumbo accidentally stamped on both of them, driving them into
the ground. Very jealous of men around Loona, Jumbo then
extracted Harry using his trunk round Harry's waist, but squeeze
him almost in half. Harry was saved by another roar from the
tiger, which cause the terrified Jumbo to drop him and flee. As
the elephant departed Harry worriedly informed Loona they were
done for as he could see the tiger approaching. While Harry
cowered in fear Loona noted that the tiger was a man-eater, but
reassured him that she wasn't going to stand by and watch as it
devoured him...then she fled in her car, leaving Harry to his
fate. Comments: Harry is a parody of the general
"great white hunter" trope, but more specifically he probably
parodies Lorna the Jungle Girl's supporting cast/love interest
Greg Knight. --Riot#6/3

Goo-Moo was an ape that Loona knew, and who she played dice with, though she suspected him of cheating. Comments: Goo-Moo may be a parody of Jungle
Action's Man-oo the Mighty. --Riot#6/3

Jumbo was a friend of Loona's, but not Harry Handsome, as Jumbo was very jealous of Loona's gentlemen friends. When Loona felt she was in danger after hearing the nearby roar of a sabre-toothed tiger she called for Jumbo, who came running, and unfortunately stepped on Loona and Harry, driving both of them into the ground. Jumbo gently lifted Loona out the resultant hole, and then extracted Harry, squeezing him extremely tightly as he did so. Another roar from the tiger made Jumbo jump in fright and drop Harry. Loona reassured Harry that Jumbo was absolutely fearless, and then as Jumbo fled screaming for help she rationalized this by claiming Jumbo had been afraid he'd hurt the tiger. --Riot#6/3
