History:
(Love Trails I#1/2 (fb)) - Nancy was once in love with Ward Lehigh. However, one day she spotted him in a cafe with another woman and decided he'd been disloyal to her. When she confronted him, he claimed he was manipulating those women into investing in oil well shares. Nancy didn't think much of him for manipulating other women, even if she was the woman he truly loved as he claimed. Nancy broke up with Ward. Some time later, she meet Terry Lee and married him.
Three years later, Terry and Nancy lived on a ranch outside of Austin, Texas. Terry was working on building a dam across the Pamanto River. Terry reached out to Ward Lehigh for help with the dam, unaware of Nancy's history with him. Nancy was shocked when Ward arrived at the ranch and tried to pretend she'd never met him before. Nancy feared Ward was there to try and break up her marriage.
For a few days, Ward worked with Terry and kept up the pretense that he hadn't met Nancy before. However, one night he drew Nancy into the barn and kissed her, claiming that when he left the ranch, she'd leave with him. Nancy denied that she still had feelings for him but Ward said if she didn't come with him he'd tell Terry about their past. Nancy asked for time to think and Ward gave until the next day.
Unable to reach a decision, Nancy got on her horse and fled into the night, when suddenly Ward rode out in front of her. Spooked, Nancy's horse threw her to the ground. Ward went to Nancy's side and kissed her, just as Terry rode up. Terry and Ward got into a fight when suddenly the dam burst and the river's water began rushing towards the area. Nancy warned the two men but they were too preoccupied with their fistfight. Ward knocked out Terry but then tripped and struck his head against a rock. Nancy saw the water coming and realized she only had time to save one of the two men.
(Love Trails I#1/2) - After debating which man to save, Nancy finally realized she should choose her husband Terry. Thinking Terry was fully unconscious, Nancy unburdened herself to him about her past with Ward, then started to leave, when Terry grabbed her and told her he heard and understood everything and still loved her. Nancy remained with Terry.

It's an unwritten rule in Marvel's 1940s-50s romance comics that if the heroine must chose between a blond man and a black-haired man with a mustache, the man with the mustache will turn out to be a cad and a bounder.
Her husband was Terry Lee?!? As in, Terry and the Pirates? I guess the writer was a fan.

Terry Lee was Nancy's husband and lived with her on a ranch outside Austin, Texas. He was working on a dam for the Pamanto River. Terry brought in Ward Lehigh to work on the dam, unaware he was Nancy's past lover. When he found Ward kissing Nancy Terry got into a fistfight with Ward. Ward knocked out Terry just as the dam burst and the water was about to sweep over them. Nancy chose to save Terry's life, then thinking he was unconscious, told him all about her past with Ward. Terry revealed he'd heard everything and still loved her.

Ward Lehigh was Nancy's old flame before she was married. Ward had many other lovers but claimed he used romance to get women to invest in oil well shares. Ward tried to force Nancy to leave with him, threatening to tell Terry everything if she refused. When Terry found Ward kissing Nancy they got into a fistfight. Ward defeated Terry but then tripped and hit his head on a rock. As the dam had burst and water was rushing towards them, Nancy only had time to save one of them and chose Terry. Ward was swept away in the water and most likely drowned.
