History:

(Micronauts Annual I#2 (fb) - BTS) - Mr. Karamatsu was a representative of a toy company. His company was approached by Professor Philip Prometheus, who told the toy manufacturers about the Microverse and the beings who dwelled there which he'd personally witnessed. Professor Prometheus showed the company sketchbooks he'd filled with characters and vehicles from the Microverse, along with prototype toys, proposing them to the company as a new toyline. Mr. Karamatsu's company agreed to make the toys, unaware Prometheus had planted computer chips inside the toys which would allow him to animate them. As Mr. Karamatsu arranged for a Micronauts promotional event at Macy's in Manhattan, he agreed to let Professor Prometheus attend the event in a costume as the "Toymaster," unaware that Prometheus intended to start a riot at Macy's.

(Micronauts Annual I#2) - Mr. Karamatsu set up a display of Micronauts toys for Macy's manager, Mr. Clark, but when the promotional event started, the Toymaster brought the toys to life and they started menacing customers. Mr. Karamatsu and Mr. Clark dove under a table and hid from the fighting.

Fortunately, the real Micronauts were drawn to the store because Prometheus' technology had an adverse effect on all of the Micronauts who were represented by toy replicas. When the Micronauts revealed the Toymaster was Professor Prometheus, Mr. Karamatsu admitted to Mr. Clark how Prometheus had given his company the ideas for the Micronauts toys. After the Micronauts defeated Prometheus, Mr. Karamatsu said he was inspired to create two new toys based on Marionette and Bug, who didn't have toys of their own. Mr. Clark was very interested and wondered if Mr. Karamatsu could have them ready in time for the Christmas shopping season.

Micronauts are ™ and © Hasbro, Inc. and Takara Tomy.

Presumably the Japanese company Mr. Karamatsu represented was Takara Tomy, originators of the Micronauts toys.

TOMMY CLARK

Tommy was Mr. and Mrs. Clark's son. Tommy saw the Micronauts toys at Macy's and was the first to see they were capable of independent movement but when he warned his parents they ignored him. Later, Tommy was caught in the ruckus started when the Toymaster began animating the toys in Macy's, which drew the real Micronauts to the scene.

MR. and MRS. CLARK

Mr. Clark was the manager of Macy's department store in Manhattan and arranged a special promotion of Micronauts toys at the store with Mr. Karamatsu. Mr. Clark's wife and his son Tommy came to the event. However, the Toymaster caused the Micronauts toys to become animated and attack people in the store. While Mr. Clark hid under a table with Mr. Karamatsu, the real Micronauts arrived and defeated the Toymaster. When Mr. Karamatsu said the experience had convinced him to make toys based on Marionette and Bug, Mr. Clark wondered if he could have those toys ready for the next Christmas shopping season.
