History:
(U.S.A. Comics I#6/5) - Jeep Jones was a garage mechanic who decided to join the U.S. Army. He had been working on a new gasoline mixture that he put into his jeep so he could drive it to the Army recruiting station, however the concoction was much stronger than he expected and he wound up crashing his vehicle into a colonel's car. When the Military Police brought him to the colonel to explain himself, Jeep told the colonel he wanted to enlist. Although exasperated, the colonel sent him to recruitment and Jeep underwent his physical and was soon a private in the Army. When Jeep's sergeant told him to familiarize himself with the colonel's car, Jeep tinkered with it, taking it apart just when the colonel wanted to use it. Jeep quickly reassmbled the vehicle but continued tinkering with it while he chauffeured the colonel. Unfortunately, the car fell apart ont he road and the irritated colonel sent Jeep to the guard house as punishment.
(U.S.A. Comics I#7/6) - Jeep began working on a new invention, "the Super-Duper Tank," but his general wasn't interested in it. Undaunted, Jeep persisted in assembling the vehicle from items he stole from the camp. While driving the Super-Duper Tank he accidentally snagged a plane carrying Otto and another Nazi spy who had stolen plans from the camp. For accidentally stopping the spies, Jeep received the Medal of Honor for his gallantry and ingenuity. However, when the Super-Duper Tank knocked the general into a mud puddle, Jeep was sent to the guard house.
(U.S.A. Comics I#8/3) - Jeep designed a new vehicle, the Super Amphibious Jeeplane, an aircraft that could burrow underground. However, the Jeeplane was stolen by two Japanese spies, Hotso and Notsohotso, who wound up burrowing a tunnel all the way to Hong Kong; Jeep went in pursuit of them and turned up in Hong Kong.
(U.S.A. Comics I#9/3) - Jeep was sent to guard a fire-works defense factory and had a dream where he was deployed to a Pacific island and caught two Japanese soldiers. When he was caught sleeping on duty, Jeep was sent to perform janitorial duties.
(All Select Comics I#1/4) - Jeep Jones built a jumping jeep that could survive virtually any collision. Although his major didn't care for the invention, Jeep took it out to test it anyway and after being snagged to a plane then falling safely to the ground, Jeep's invention impressed a general.
(Kid Komics I#3/5) - Jeep built the Inducto, a machine designed to automize the process of inducting new soldiers into the Army. Jeep's general told him to bring the Inducto to Washington D.C. On the way, Jeep picked up a hitchhiker who proved to be a Japanese spy who stole his vehicle and the Inducto. Jones was court martialed and sentenced to death for losing the device but when they learned the Japanese who used the Inducto were surrendering to the Army because the machine made them loyal to the USA, Jeep was congratulated and his sentence pardoned.
(All Select Comics I#2/3) - In the guard house, Jeep built a walking jeep. Once he was out of the guard house, he had his friend Pokey collect boots which he mounted on the walking jeep in place of tires, claiming this invention would save on tire rationing. Jeep's fellow soldiers thought the result was ridiculous and challenged him to ride over a plank while blindfolded, which he did, but the planks were suspended over water, humiliating Jeep when he plunged into the water. Jeep's major promised he'd arrange a test for the walking jeeep but when he learned his own boots had been used for the vehicle he sentenced Jeep and Pokey to k.p.
(Kid Komics I#4/4) - Jeep Jones built a jeep cover that could turn a vehicle covered by it invisible. Jeep took his invisible jeep out for a ride, shocking his fellow soldiers. A Nazi spy forced Jeep to give him the jeep cover but Jeep set after him in a plane which he'd equipped with a large invisible cloth. Unfortunately, in capturing the spy, Jeep lost both of his invisible cloths. The Army gave Jeep a medal, then put him in the guard house for losing his inventions.
(U.S.A. Comics I#12/4) - When a general asked Jeep to repair his wife's vacuum cleaner he resolved to invent the Super Vic Vac, a powerful vaccum attached to a tank that could suck up enemy forces. However, he neglected the actual repairs he'd been asked to perform and the general threw him into the guard house until he completed fixing the vacuum cleaner.
(Kid Komics I#5/5) - Jeep Jones' next invention was the Jeepski, a Jeep that could travel over snowy ground. As the camp was snowed in and food was becoming scarce, Jeep mounted a gun to the Jeepski and took it out to hunt for meat. he wound up discovering a cavern where prehistoric creatures had been frozen in ice. Building a fire to warm himself, he unthawed the creatures, who came back to life. Jeep led the creatures back to hsi camp, claiming he'd found enough meat to last through three wars.
(U.S.A. Comics I#13/4) - After his comrades made fun of him about rockets, Jeep built a Rocket Jeep, inspired from having listened to a radio program in New Jersey. The Rocket Jeep was built like an artillery shell and could be fired from a cannon but on his first launch he was fired into the ocean and had to be rescued. On the second test, Jeep landed in a movie studio where a science fiction film was being made and mistakenly thought he'd landed on another planet.

The New Jersey radio program that inspired the Rocket Jeep in U.S.A. Comics I#13 was probably the "War of the Worlds" broadcast on the Mercury Theater on the Air on October 30, 1938 - it was set in Grovers Mill, New Jersey.
