History:
(Brute Force Infinity Comic#2 (fb)) - Jojo and Link were chimps that were the first two animals (in that order) experimented on by Doctor Randall Pierce and his colleague Otto Octavius,...

(Brute Force Infinity Comic#3 (fb)) - partners in the newly emerging field of bio-engineering. Working on behalf of NASA,...

(Brute Force Infinity Comic#2 (fb)) - the two scientists implanted chips in the chimps' brains designed to enhance their intellects...

(Brute Force Infinity Comic#3 (fb)) - so NASA could use them as pilots in experiments on long-term spaceflights. Experiencing human emotions for the first time, the two chimps fell deeply in love. However, during their test flight heat shielding fell off their capsule, and they were left for dead in space by NASA.

(Brute Force Infinity Comic#5 (fb)) - Pierce was forced to deliver the bad news to Link and Jojo, informing them over video-link that the damage to the capsule was too significant for it to survive re-entry, and could not be repaired. Additionally, the next launch window was not for a few weeks, meaning they would run out of food and water before a rescue mission could be sent, not that NASA was willing to even try. Jojo was shocked that they were just going to be left to die, but Link told her that the humans just considered them animals. Admitting she didn't want to die, Jojo suddenly wondered if it would be possible to use their neuralinks to survive in some form at least. Their implants were designed to record everything they saw and felt, and since in theory minds were just data, she wondered if it would be possible to make them store everything, their entire minds. Link pointed out that they would have to die to test the theory, but Jojo countered that they'd be dead anyway if they didn't make the attempt. However Link insisted there had to be another way, as he wasn't prepared to lose her. Later, when Jojo fell asleep, Link entered the capsule's airlock. She woke to find him preparing to open the outer door without putting on his spacesuit's helmet. Through the interior window he told her that there might be enough oxygen and food for one of them to survive long enough to be rescued. Adding that he loved her and hoped she would forgive him, he opened the exterior door and was blown out into space. Donning her helmet, Jojo quickly retrieved his corpse, and cut out the neuralink, then hooked it into the computer. However, despite her hopes, there was no response, and it seemed that Link was truly dead. Jojo spent the next few weeks hanging on to life, her rage and anger turning into cold hatred and resolve. A few weeks later NASA finally sent another rocket, but Jojo decided not to wait to be rescued. She left her capsule armed with a wrench and made her way across to the new arrival.

(Brute Force Infinity Comic#1 - BTS) - Jojo reached the Goliath capsule and open its exterior hatch, the sudden depressurization sending the luckless astronauts inside out into space without their suits. Jojo then entered and resealed the hatch, and rode the capsule through re-entry back down to Earth.

(Brute Force Infinity Comic#3 (fb)) - NASA believed both Jojo and Link had died.

(Brute Force Infinity Comic#3 (fb) - BTS) - Jojo reinvented herself, becoming a powerful criminal and a big deal in the underworld, even getting involved with one of her former creators, Octavius, who had become the supervillain Doctor Octopus.

(Brute Force Infinity Comic#4 (fb) - BTS) - Though she used humans as staff in the organization she built, she considered humans oppressors of the animal kingdom, and she planned to eventually "restore the natural order" by driving humanity beneath animal-kind.

(Brute Force#1 - BTS) - Pierce went on to experiment on additional animals, creating the team Brute Force.

(Brute Force Infinity Comic#4 (fb) - BTS) - Heavy Metal, another group of bionically-enhanced animals created using Pierce's technology, learned of Jojo's existence, and subsequently one of them, the gorilla Uproar, murdered Pierce.

(Brute Force Infinity Comic#5 (fb) - BTS) - Jojo learned that NASA was developing an A.I. using quantum computing, and believed that if she could get hold of the technology she could bring mankind to its knees by using the A.I. to bypass online encryption and destroy financial markets. Believing the computer was at White Sands,...

(Brute Force Infinity Comic#1 - BTS) - Jojo's forces attacked the Johnson Space Center White Sands Test Center, an incursion that the FBI wrongly attributed to Brute Force.

(Brute Force Infinity Comic#5 (fb) - BTS) - However, White Sands proved to be a false lead, not yielding the prize she had desired.

(Brute Force Infinity Comic#3 (fb) - BTS) - Doctor Octopus informed her that Brute Force had learned of her name, and were trying to find out more. Jojo offered him a fortune if he could capture them and deliver them alive into her custody.

(Brute Force Infinity Comic#4) - True to his promise Doctor Octopus captured Brute Force, along with their associate (and Randall's more recent lab assistant) Lily. They were flown by helicopter to Jojo's base of operations, her "sanctuary," an island in the Caspian Sea. When they arrived she was horrified to see they had been shackled, and ordered her minions to release them immediately, insisting they were guests to be treated with respect. She explained to them that she considered their meeting a family reunion, insisting that they had all been betrayed and cursed by the same father. When Brute Force's Lionhear rebutted this by claiming Pierce had been a good man, Jojo disagreed, pointing out that he had experimented on animals to turn them into living weapons. Lionheart stated that they had been given their powers to defend themselves and other animals, but Jojo questioned whether protecting was really what they wanted, noting that while they possessed human intelligence they were still animals, ones that enjoyed the thrill of the hunt and the kill. This failed to sway Lionheart however, who saw her words as machinations no better than those of humans. Jojo stood her ground, insisting they had been gaslit until they accepted humanity's leash, and stating that she offered them freedom. Pointing at Lily, Jojo declared that mankind subjugated animals, making them pets, experimenting on them, and they were destroying the entire planet. Asking them to join her, she said she intended to restore the natural order and truly protect the animal kingdom. In an attempt to prove her claims, she offered to tell them the real story behind Pierce and his experiments.

(Brute Force Infinity Comic#5) - She told Brute Force of her fateful spaceflight and of Link's death. Then she tried to recruit them, explaining about the NASA A.I., and telling them that she now knew where it was located. Lionheart again declined, telling her she wanted revenge, not justice. Hearing this, Jojo ordered her guards to shoot Brute Force, but the human troops proved no match for the bionic animals. However, while they were occupied, Jojo forced Lily on board a helicopter and escaped.

(Brute Force Infinity Comic#6) - Jojo led her mercenaries on an attack on Cape Canaveral just prior to a scheduled launch, intending to hijack the capsule which contained the quantum A.I. she was hoping to steal. As she was about to board, Brute Force soon arrived and began eliminating her forces. Seeing Lionheart racing up the side of the launch tower, Jojo pushed her hostage Lily off the gantry to provide a distraction, then boarded while Lionheart was delayed saving her. However, upon entering Jojo was surprised to see a hologram of Link. In disbelief she told him that she had seen him die, but Link told her the uplink she had carried out had worked, but their capsule had lacked the processing power to handle his consciousness. When NASA finally recovered the capsule, they salvaged the data and found him, transferring him to computer's capable of sustaining his mind. He told her that NASA had informed him she was dead, to which she responded that they had left her for dead. Hearing this, Link noted that they had sent rescue teams, but Jojo angrily denounced this as lies, insisting that he wasn't really Link but a trick NASA had created to torture her. Insisting she would make them suffer she ignored his pleas and began the process of extracting his A.I. He insisted he would not help her harm humanity, but she told him she would give him no choice, and would break him if necessary. Before she could continue, she was knocked out by Lionheart, who had arrived in time to witness most of the interchange. Lionheart told Link that he believed the Jojo he had known had not survived the original spaceflight, but Link insisted there was still good in her and they could help bring her back to the person she once was. Lionheart stated that he was going to hand her over to the authorities to pay for her crimes, but Link begged him not to hand her over to be subjected to more experiments. Declaring that Jojo needed their help, he pleaded for Lionheart to let him take her away to somewhere she could be safe and remember the good that was inside of her. Accepting his request, Lionheart left her unconscious in the capsule and headed back to the ground; minutes later the rocket launched, carrying both Link and Jojo into space.
