(
Digitek#4 (fb) - BTS / Digitek#4 (fb) - BTS) - Entrepreneur and computer hacker Marx Jephcott was friends with Samantha Bryant to whom he owed a number of favors.

(Digitek#3) - Avoiding pursuit of the pursuing Bacillicons (digital warriors created by Roland Greville), Digitek "digitated" himself and his wife, Samantha Bryant, into the phone lines. When Digitek sought a safe phone number to escape back to the material world, Samantha gave him the number of her friend Marx Jephcott, assuring that he was trustworthy. jephcott-marx-dig3-shocked

Digitek was initially jealous of her male friend, but they nonetheless materialized in his office. As the Bacillicons tried to follow, Digitek unplugged the phone, catching Byte mid-transition and apparently discorporating throughout cyberspace.

Marx complained that they had blown up his phone, fused his modem and trashed his computer, but Samantha took responsibility, assuring him that they would have otherwise died if they hadn't emerged thusly.

(Digitek#4 (fb) - BTS) - Marx agreed to Digitek's plan to help get Samantha into Greville's Miracle Systems so she could recharge the living protosilicon computer Psi-Key, which Jonathan had created and which had transformed him into Digitek to survive Greville's assault on his office at Nakasoni, during which they had stolen Psi-Key.jephcott-marx-dig4-hacking

(Digitek#4) - While Samantha traveled to Greville's office at Miracle Systems in Central London, Marx hacked into their computers and granted her security clearance to enter the upper levels.

(Digitek#4 - BTS) - Meanwhile, Digitek sent a "mailshot message" (email) from Marx's office to Miracle Systems, taunting them into pursuing through the computer connection to Marx's office, where he ambushed them, destroying Kay and nearly destroying Purge before he fled back to Miracle Systems and merged with Greville. As the combined being subsequently pursued Samantha, Digitek traveled to Miracle Systems as well to protect her.

(Digitek#4) - As the plan had gone awry and Samantha was in danger, Marx disregarded Digitek's instructions to keep Nakasoni and its parent corporation, Mys-Tech, out of the matter, and he alerted Nakasoni via a phonecard that Samantha had given him for emergencies.

(Digitek#4 - BTS) - Purge/Greville overpowered the drained Digitek, but when he/they hurled Digitek into Psi-Key with the goal of destroying them both, Psi-Key super-charged Digitek to destroy Purge/Greville.

(Digitek#4) - Marx arrived at Miracle Systems shortly after Nakasoni's hit squad, helping Samantha to her feet, explaining what was going on and showing her the corpse of her husband('s physical body).

(Digitek#4 - BTS) - Three weeks later in Chapelgate, East London, Marx may or may not have attended Jonathan Bryant's funeral, after which Digitek revealed his continued existence as a purely digital being to Samantha.
