Powers/Abilities: The Illuminated is
connected to the Symbiote Hive, which, combined with "the Light,"
grants him a multitude of powers including superhuman strength and
durability, limited shapeshifting, weapons manifestation and control
over the symbiotes.
Despite explicitly rejecting the
position of the King in Black, the Illuminated can similarly manifest
his consciousness through any symbiote not just in space but across
time. This enables him to time-travel, though when doing so he is
limited by the abilities of his current symbiote and its host.

History: (Venom: Original Sin Infinity Comic#5 (fb)) - Eddie Brock, son of Carl, was married to Anne Weying, a lawyer. Working as a reporter for the Daily Globe, he wrote a story about the Beast (Hank McCoy) and Wonder Man (Simon Williams) defeating the Awesome Android in the Central Park, but his editor Barney Bushkin pushed the story off the front page. Eddie tried to complain, but Buskin told him to get a story that was worth the Globe's front page instead. This led Eddie to strike a deal with the criminal Jack O'Lantern.
(Venom: Original Sin Infinity Comic#1 (fb)) - Eddie asked Jack O'Lantern to give him tips on his criminal gigs beforehand so that he could be there to write stories about them, promising Jack a cut of his own rate in exchange. Jack O'Lantern did not need the money but agreed to the deal because it amused him.
Venom: Original Sin Infinity Comic#5 (fb)) - Anne took Eddie to a dinner at a fancy restaurant, which he felt bad about because of lack of success in his own career. Anne encouraged Eddie to make the break he needed to succeed himself.
(Venom: Original Sin Infinity Comic#1 (fb) - BTS) - Jack O'Lantern tipped Eddie about an upcoming arson job at the New York docks warehouse at 11 PM. Eddie rushed to the site, where Jack O'Lantern had began exploding things five minutes early. Eddie saw two security guards trapped inside a burning building but was too scared to help them.
(Venom: Original Sin Infinity Comic#2 (fb) - BTS) - A few months later, a serial killer known as Sin-Eater emerged. Eddie believed Emil Gregg to be the Sin-Eater and ran a story about it, only for the Sin-Eater to be revealed as Stan Carter instead. The incident cost Eddie his job and eventually led him to encounter the Venom symbiote.
(Venom: Original Sin Infinity Comic#4 (fb)) - As Venom, Eddie lived a life similar to that of his Earth-616 counterpart, including a long-time rivalry with Spider-Man. During Knull's invasion of Earth, Eddie was killed by Knull but was resurrected by "the Light" (Enigma Force) and used it to kill Knull. Eddie then diverged from all of his multiversal variants by abdicating the throne of the King in Black and remaining loyal to the Light instead.
As Light's Paladin, Eddie killed the Chaos King after he had been revitalized by Knull's dying essence.
Eddie used the Light to transform the Symbiote Hive into the place of healing and defended it from the attack by the Symbiote Revenge Squad, a combined force of Poisons and Symbiote Slayers. He continued spreading the Light to remote corners of the galaxy.
(Venom: Original Sin Infinity Comic#4 (fb) - BTS) - Eventually Eddie reached Lumina, a place outside of time connected to the home of the Light. However, because of the guilt of letting two innocent guards die many years ago he found himself unable to move on, and he was stuck on the doorway of Paradise. The Illuminated decided to change the past by piloting a symbiote across time. Because the warehouse fire happened before Eddie met Venom, that meant using the symbiote when it was still with Peter Parker.
(Venom: Original Sin Infinity Comic#1) - Possessing Spider-Man's body through the symbiote, the Illuminated rushed to the site of the warehouse fire and attacked Jack O'Lantern but was not quick enough to save the two guards. After knocking Jack O'Lantern out, he decided to save himself instead and approached the younger Eddie (creating a divergent reality-39941). He revealed himself to be his counterpart's future self and offered to help Eddie-39941 avoid his mistakes.
(Venom: Original Sin Infinity Comic#2) - Manifesting Eddie Brock's face through the Symbiote, the Illuminated told Eddie-39941 the real identity of the Sin-Eater. Before he could tell more, Jack O'Lantern attacked him with fire and an electrically charged blade. Eddie-39941 yelled at Jack not to kill him, and Jack O'Lantern threw the blade at him for siding with the enemy. The Illuminated shielded his past self and was stabbed through the chest with the blade, which Jack O'Lantern then detonated. The fire killed both Peter Parker's body and the symbiote.
(Venom: Original Sin Infinity Comic#4 (fb) - BTS) - The Illuminated awoke back at the Lumina. From his position outside of time he saw how his interference had affected the life of Earth-39941 Eddie Brock, who had achieved high success in both his career and marriage. But the cost of this was the death of Spider-Man, without whom multiple villains had run rampant, causing great loss of life. The Illuminated despaired at the result of his actions, feeling that he had botched his one chance at redemption.
(Venom: Original Sin Infinity Comic#3) - The Illuminated was approached by Eventuality, an amalgamation of every Eddie Brock who had become the King in Black.
(Venom: Original Sin Infinity Comic#4) - Eventuality said that from his position at the End of Time, he felt the Illuminated's absence within himself. The Illuminated was in despair over being stuck in Lumina, and Eventuality offered to help him with his situation.
(Venom: Original Sin Infinity Comic#5) - The Illuminated noted that if he were to save the guards while using Peter Parker's body, then Spider-Man would be the one getting all the credit. Eventually countered that this was the necessary part of the sacrifice.
(Venom: Original Sin Infinity Comic#6) - Saying that Lumina was not Heaven itself but merely the doorstep to it, Eventuality pushed the Illuminated to prove himself and embrace the sacrifice without glory. Sufficiently motivated, the Illuminated used the Symbiote Hive to travel back in time and possess the body of Peter Parker on the night of the warehouse fire again.
(Venom: Original Sin Infinity Comic#7) - Once again, the Illuminated rushed to the warehouse in Spider-Man's body. This time he attacked and knocked out Jack O'Lantern earlier, diverging the timeline into Earth-80106. The door into the warehouse was blocked, but the Illuminated broke open the wall and used Spider-Man's body to catch the burning debris before they crushed the two guards. The guards ran outside but then saw "Spider-Man" collapse under the weight of the rubble and went back for him, dragging their rescuer out of the fire. Jack O'Lantern tried to kill them to get ride of the witnesses, and the Illuminated put Spider-Man's body between the guards and the villain.
(Venom: Original Sin Infinity Comic#8) - Jack O'Lantern attacked "Spider-Man," who promised to leave him alive if he were to let the guards go. Jack O'Lantern threw pumpkin bombs at him, but the Illuminated used the symbiote to intercept them and stabbed Jack O'Lantern through the leg. The Illuminated prepared to bite Jack's head off but changed his mind and let him go. The two guards thanked "Spider-Man," who then swung away.
Back at the Lumina, the Illuminated walked side by side with Eventuality, who congratulated him on his sacrifice. The Illuminated then disappeared in a blink, having been allowed to move on. Eventuality stayed at Lumina to look at the Heaven, amazed that an Eddie Brock managed to reach it after all.
(Knull#3) - When Knull-616, who had obtained the All-Light Spear, managed to make his way inside the Lumina, the Illuminated greeted him there.
(Knull#4) - The Illuminated revealed his own backstory and welcomed Knull, saying that he had witnessed Knull's journey to rid himself of the dark and embrace the light and was moved by it. The Illuminated offered Knull his help in making the journey through the final doorway to Mystery, only for Knull to stab him with the All-Light Spear. The weapon of Light did not harm Eddie but only enraged him. He berated Knull for his foolishness before manifesting Symbiote armor and charging at Knull. The All-Light Spear still pierced through his chest, the Illuminated battered Knull around until Knull tried tapping into Eddie's own inner darkness. The Illuminated pushed Knull away and manifested a sword of light. He attacked Knull with it, but Knull cut out both of Eddie's eyes with his own daggers of darkness. Further enraged, the Illuminated hit Knull again and brought him down, proclaiming that the Darkness had no power inside Lumina. However, Knull then reached for the All-Light Spear, still stuck inside Eddie, and used it as a conduit to strike the Illuminated with the Light itself. Eddie was left severely burned, weakened, and unable to speak. Knull mocked him and contemplated leaving Eddie in this diminished state before consuming what was left of the Illuminated and absorbing all of his powers, thus himself becoming a God of Light.
