History:
(Crime Exposed II#3) - Based out of the Greenpoint area of Brooklyn, the Greenpoint Gang - "Bugs" Bronsky, "Monk" Martino, Steve "the Sheik" Sardi and Willie Woods - were four young men who started careers in crime together, with Sardi serving as their leader. After the mobster Little Nick dismissed them as "two-bit moochers," the Greenpoint Gang decided to prove themselves by assaulting a truck transporting stolen Canadian furs for Little Nick's mob. On May 16, 1936, the Greenpoint Gang murdered the truck's drivers outside of Utica and claimed the furs for themselves.
About a week later, Little Nick confronted the Greenpoint Gang in the street. While one of his men held a gun on Sardi, Little Nick beat him, informing him that every fence in New York had already alerted him that the Greenpoint Gang were selling his furs. Little Nick demanded Sardi give him the money they earned from his furs or he'd have them all killed. Sardi agreed to bring the money but once Little Nick was gone started to plan Little Nick's death.
Two days later, Monk brought a package supposedly containing $50,000 to Little Nick's club, the Golden Goose. Monk claimed the rest of the money would follow by the end of the week. Monk quickly left the club as when Little Nick opened the package it activated a bomb that killed him and his entire mob.
With Little Nick gone, Sardi decided the Greenpoint Gang would step up to become the top criminals in Brooklyn. Sardi declared no crime would be too small for them, including the robbery of Joe's candy store, unaware Joe was Little Nick's brother. When Joe tried to stop them, Sardi shot him, wounding him.
After six months, the Greenpoint Gang called a summit of every crime boss in Brooklyn. Sardi informed the other bosses that his gang was getting out of hijacking and robbery and would instead go into protection. To begin this new phase, Sardi demanded all the Brooklyn criminals start paying a percentage to him or face the consequences. Some of the mobsters disputed this but a woman claiming to be "Lulu Leeds" talked the others into accepting Sardi's demands and expressed a romantic interest in him. Unknown to Sardi, "Lulu" was actually Little Nick's widow Rose and was planning his downfall.
When Sardi and Monk went to collect protection from the same candy store they had robbed six months earlier, they were surprised to see Joe had recovered from being shot and was still running the shop. When they demanded protection Joe refused, even as Sardi destroyed some of his merchandise. The following day the gang threw a grenade at Joe's candy store. Joe went to the police for help but they lacked evidence that the Greenpoint Gang were the ones who bombed his shop.
Joe ultimately met up with Rose and learned she likewise wanted to bring down the gang. Joe and Rose posed as members of the Greenpoint Gang and started robbing locations that were paying protection to the gang, making it seem as though the gang were double-crossing their allies. The mobsters were so enraged that they assaulted the Greenpoint Gang on February 14, 1937 and killed all four of them outside a nightclub.

"Bugs" Bronsky was a member of the Greenpoint Gang. Bugs participated in the Greenpoint Gang's various crimes around Brooklyn but when Joe and "Lulu" turned the other mobsters against the gang he was killed in a shootout on February 14, 1937.

Joe was Little Nick's brother. He owned a candy store in Brooklyn. After being shot and robbed by the Greenpoint Gang, then later refused to pay them protection, causing them to bomb his shop, costing Joe his right arm in the blast. Joe resolved to bring down the gang. Joining forces with Little Nick's widow Rose, Joe and Rose started dressing up as members of the Greenpoint Gang and robbed locations who were paying protection to the gang. The mob assumed the Greenpoint Gang had double-crossed them and murdered the gang. Joe later married Rose and opened a newsstand.

Little Nick was a mobster in Brooklyn who looked down on the Greenpoint Gang. When the Greenpoint Gang robbed a truck of Canadian furs, Nick demanded the gang pay him all the money they earned. Instead, they delivered a bomb to Nick's club, the Golden Goose. The bomb wiped out Nick and his entire gang. However, Nick's brother, Joe and his widow Rose (as "Lulu Leeds") plotted revenge against the Greenpoint Gang.

"Lulu Leeds" was the alias assumed by Rose, Little Nick's widow. Rose adopted the alias of "Lulu" in order to romance Steve "the Sheik" Sardi but secretly began plotting the downfall of the Greenpoint Gang. Rose had intended to murder Sardi herself but found she lacked the nerve to kill him. After conferring with Joe they decided to turn the other mobs against the Greenpoint Gang by posing as the gang in a series of robberies in the mobs' businesses. This led to a gang war in which the entire Greenpoint Gang were killed. Rose married Joe and opened a newsstand with him.

"Monk" Martino was the strong-arm of the Greenpoint Gang. Monk participated in the Greenpoint Gang's various crimes around Brooklyn. During the gang's rise to prominence, Monk delivered a bomb to Little Nick, rubbing him out and enabling the Greenpoint Gang to assume control over his territory. When Joe and "Lulu" turned the other mobsters against the gang he was killed in a shootout on February 14, 1937.

Steve "the Sheik" Sardi was the leader of the Greenpoint Gang. Sardi planned the death of his rival Little Nick and guided the Greenpoint Gang in their various crimes around Brooklyn until he resolved to go into protection and force all of Brooklyn's mobsters to pay protection to him. He failed to recognize "Lulu Leeds" as Little Nick's widow Rose as she schemed his downfall on February 14, 1937.

Willie was a member of the Greenpoint Gang. Willie participated in the Greenpoint Gang's various crimes around Brooklyn but when Joe and "Lulu" turned the other mobsters against the gang he was killed in a shootout on February 14, 1937.
