History: (TVA#1 (fb) - BTS) - After the death of his lover, Rogue, Gambit became drunk and unruly. For his disorderly conduct, he was apprehended by the Time Variance Authority hunters and taken to the TVA headquarters.

(TVA#1) - Gambit was visited in his cell by the current head of the TVA, B-15, as well as agent Mobius and two outside recruits: Poison and Ghost-Spider. Gwen offered Remy a chance of redemption, which he rejected by firing a card past her face. B-15 then promised to grant Gambit access to the kitchen in exchange for his help and he agreed, being sick of the cafeteria food. Gambit, Ghost-Spider and Poison were joined by Ingrid and Captain Carter as the field team of the TVA's Research and Advancement Department (R&A). Their mission was to investigate "the Madness," a phenomenon that caused people across different realities to see their darkest fears and the hallways of the TVA. They first headed to Santa Cruz on Earth-93, the site of the most recent incident. The team split up, and Gambit was attacked by a decayed, corpse-like manifestation of Rogue who blamed him for letting her die. The others were also attacked and were almost overrun before retreating through a time door back to the TVA. After confirming that everyone saw their personal demons, Ingrid suggested seeking the answers in Hell.

(TVA#2) - The team traveled to Bagalia's Hell Town on Earth-616 to see Daimon Hellstrom. Having not studied the mission briefing, Gambit mistook the place for the actual Hell before being corrected. Hellstrom invited his guests to his Manor and denied knowing anything about the Madness but offered them to peruse his personal library. Jimmy and Ingrid went off to do research, while Gambit spotted someone following them and informed Ghost-Spider. They used a time door to sneak behind their shadow and found it to be Sylvie, a variant of Loki and an ally of Mobius. They rejoined the others, who in the meantime had found An Exhaustive Guide to Celestial Bureaucracies which revealed a secret TVA department located underneath the R&A.

(TVA#3) - The field team returned to the TVA headquarters, where Mobius had been stabbed by an unrevealed perpetrator. They investigated the crime scene and followed the trail of disabled surveillance cameras back into the R&A, which implicated one of them. A team of minutemen led by B-15 arrived to arrest Jimmy Hudson after a sheath from the suspected attack weapon was found in his bunk. Gambit prepared to fight, but Jimmy surrendered peacefully. Gambit was determined to catch the real culprit, but the only way out of the R&A led down into the secret department, into which Sylvie forbade them to go. Gambit brought some nice food to Jimmy's cell and sat outside while the two men talked.

(TVA#4) - Gambit went to the kitchen and made gumbo while talking to Miss Minutes before being summoned. Gwen revealed that she had gone inside the secret "Department of Deferment" but quickly came back. Gambit asked Captain Carter for an update on the Madness and concluded that the phenomena and the attack on Mobius were related. Gambit, Ingrid, and Ghost-Spider went to investigate another outbreak site in New Orleans of Earth-616, where Gambit reminded the women not to act like tourists. They encountered a street fortune-teller who relayed to Gwen her recurring dream before disappearing in front of their eyes. The navigation lights from Hellstrom's library led them towards a magical tome, after taking which the trio was attacked by shadow demons demanding the book. Gambit and Ghost-Spider fought them off before escaping with Ingrid and the tome back to the TVA. They brought the book to the R&A for O.B. to analyze and found Mobius, who had recovered enough to walk and cleared Jimmy as not being his attacker.

(TVA#5) - Some time later, a rumble shook the TVA. Ghost-Spider rushed back from the Department of Deferment and informed the team that they were dealing with Nightmare, who was luring her to the secret department through dreams, and Scarlet Witch-42872, whom Gwen had released from stasis. Scarlet Witch desired to leave the TVA, while Nightmare tempted her with dreams of vengeance as the two fought each other. Gambit rushed to release Jimmy from his cell, while Nightmare and Scarlet Witch were separated during their fight. Nightmare was swallowed by a TVA cat revealed to be a Flerken, while Sylvie unilaterally allowed Wanda to leave. Afterwards, the team was evaluated by Doc Clock, TVA's medical A.I., and B-15 congratulated them on getting through the crisis.

(TVA#5 - BTS) - Unbeknownst to anyone at the TVA, Ingrid was secretly Dreamqueen, Nightmare's daughter. Both of them had their own plans inside the TVA, and Dreamqueen created the Madness to lead everyone away from her and onto another convenient target whose magic had the same energy signature.

(Spider-Gwen: The Ghost-Spider #15) - Gambit, Captain Carter, and O.B. traveled to reality-14412 to help Ghost-Spider deal with King Loki on an alien planet teeming with monsters. Captain Carter and Gambit engaged the monster horde, allowing Ghost-Spider to focus on King Loki. The fight was stopped when Monster Loki of reality-52840 regained control over the mosnter horde and offered his apologies to the heroes.

   When the Marvel Cinematic Universe television series Loki debuted in 2021, the portrayal of the Time Variance Authority in the show seemed irreconcilable with that of the mainstream TVA, specifically in regards to its backstory and the modus operandi of pruning all divergent realities and keeping only a single "Sacred Timeline." With the release of the show's second season in 2023, some of the previously given backstory was revealed as false, while the organization itself transitioned towards maintaining the Multiverse rather than actively curbing it. Between the 2024 series Venom War: Deadpool, Spider-Gwen: The Ghost-Spider and TVA , the version of the Time Variance Authority regularly interacting with the Prime Marvel Universe had taken in all aspects of the TV show: existing characters such as Mobius and Orobourous were redesigned to match their live-action actors, original characters from the show such as Miss Minutes and B-15 were treated as having always been around, and the events of the Loki show and the Deadpool and Wolverine film were directly referenced in dialogue.

   This raises the question on how to reconcile the portrayal of the new TVA with the old one. When asked this directly, Jordan D. White had replied that "All the previous appearances count, but something has happened since then and things have changed. Something very much like the Loki series." While the precise details remain unrevealed, based on this editorial statement I interpret the old and the new TVA to be the same organization, but do not extend that to individuals such Mobius and Ouroboros until further confirmation.

   Gambit's physical characteristics are taken from his reality-616 counterpart.
