History:

(Kickers, Inc. I#2 (fb) - BTS) - The man known only as "Fist" came to the USA from another country. Seeking to disrupt the USA by causing civil unrest, Fist and his fellow revolutionary Amed began organizing a gang they called "the Fists" in the Bronx. Using their access to heavy weaponry, they began breaking up the local gangs by amalgamating them into the Fists, using their arsenal as a means of recruitment. They also operated their mini-tank in the Bronx as a tool of terror. One of the few gangs who had resisted joining the Fists were the Broken Skulls.

(Kickers, Inc. I#2) - On October 6, 1986, a woman whose rose garden had been trampled by the mini-tank hired the newly-formed Kickers, Inc. freelancers to investigate what she called a "robot." The Kickers started asking questions in the Bronx and were noticed by two members of the Fists, Bruno and Slasher. When they saw members of the Broken Skulls talking to the Kickers, Bruno and Slasher quickly went to the Fists' base and warned Fist and Amed about the Kickers' investigation. Amed feared the Kickers might be working for the C.I.A. but Fist doubted any American agencies were pursuing them. That night, Fist sent out the mini-tank to assault the Broken Skulls at their base, hoping to frighten them into silence.

However, the Broken Skulls' leader offered to guide Kickers, Inc. to the Fists' base that same night. The Broken Skulls' leader guided Jack Magniconte through a sewer entrance into the basement of Fist's building and found a room containing a large cache of weapons. Fist, Amed and their men caught Magniconte and the gang leader. Seeing Magniconte's flashy outfit, Fist concluded he wasn't an intelligence agent and told his men to kill him by crushing him to death, but the superhumanly-strong Magniconte fought his way through the gang and was soon joined by the other members of Kickers, Inc. Fist told Bruno and Slasher to get the mini-tank.

When Magniconte leapt after Fist, Fist drew his gun and shot him at point blank range - however, Magniconte proved bulletproof (something Magniconte himself was previously unaware of) and he punched Fist in the face, breaking his jaw. Just then, Bruno and Slasher returned inside the mini-tank and assaulted the Kickers. Nursing his jaw, Fist fled the building with Amed but paused to activate an explosive device in the building, along with a self-destruct device in the mini-tank. Although the building exploded, destroying all the evidence of Fist's activities and the weapons cache, the Kickers team were outside the building at the time of the explosion. A subsequent newspaper account of the episode ascribed the explosion to an illegal gun factory that caught fire.

(Kickers, Inc. I#4 - BTS) - Someone working for Fist left a threatening note and a doll of a football player with a knife in its chest inside Jack Magniconte's locker. Later, Fist himself telephoned Jack and told him to expect a "present" on the next Sunday. After his football game that Sunday Magniconte found a fruit basket with a menacing note from Fist in his locker. However, he wasn't bothered by Fist's attempts at playing mind games.

CLARIFICATIONS:
Fist should not be confused with:

AMED

Amed was Fist's closest associate and like him originated from another country and organized the Fists gang as a means of undermining the United States from within. When Kickers, Inc. discovered their operations, Amed fled with Fist.

THE BROKEN SKULLS

The Broken Skulls were a street gang active in the Bronx who refused to join the Fists. When Kickers, Inc. started asking questions about the "robot" seen in the Bronx, the Broken Skulls met with them and told them to stop asking questions. However, they were observed by members of the Fists, who assumed the Skulls were directing the Kickers towards their gang. The Fists sent their mini-tank to assault the Broken Skulls' base in an attempt to intimidate them. However, instead it emboldened them and their leader led Kickers, Inc. to the Fists' base. The Broken Skulls' leader was nearly killed by the Fists but the Kickers defended him and broke up the Fists, while Fist himself destroyed his building and fled.

BRUNO

Bruno was a member of the Fists who worked closely with Slasher. Bruno and Slasher operated the Fists' mini-tank. Bruno saw members of Kickers, Inc. talking to members of the Broken Skulls and assumed the Broken Skulls were giving up information on the Fists to the Kickers. Bruno and Slasher informed Fist and Amed and were sent out in the mini-tank to assault the Broken Skulls' base in an effort to intimidate them. Instead, this fortified the Broken Skulls' leader, who guided Kickers, Inc. directly to the Fists' base. Fist had Bruno and Slasher bring out the mini-tank to attack the Kickers but Jack Magniconte fought the tank with his bare hands and finally used a jet of water from a hydrant to short out the machine. Jack dragged Bruno and Slasher out of the mini-tank, which shortly afterwards exploded.

THE FISTS

The Fists were a gang that Fist and Amed built in the Bronx by amalgamating other street gangs, using the lure of their access to heavy weaponry as well as the threat of their mini-tank. Bruno and Slasher were two members of the Fists. The Broken Skulls were one of the only gangs to resist joining the Fists. Members of the Fists wore jackets with an iron-on image of a raised fist on the back. When the Broken Skulls' leader brought Kickers, Inc. to the Fists' base, the Kickers wound up wrecking the Fists' entire operation. Fist blew up his own building and the Fists gang were abandoned as Fist and Amed fled the scene.

SLASHER

Slasher was a member of the Fists who worked closely with Bruno. Slasher wore a U.S. Army jacket. Slasher and Bruno operated the Fists' mini-tank. Slasher saw members of Kickers, Inc. talking to members of the Broken Skulls and assumed the Broken Skulls were giving up information on the Fists to the Kickers. Slasher and Bruno informed Fist and Amed and they were sent out in the mini-tank to assault the Broken Skulls' base in an effort to intimidate them. Instead, this fortified the Broken Skulls' leader, who guided Kickers, Inc. directly to the Fists' base. Fist had Slasher and Bruno bring out the mini-tank to attack the Kickers but Jack Magniconte fought the tank with his bare hands and finally used a jet of water from a hydrant to short out the machine. Jack dragged Slasher and Bruno out of the mini-tank, which shortly afterwards exploded.

MINI-TANK

This mini-tank was a manned vehicle that required two men to operate; it was an experimental combat machine that likely originated in Amed and Fist's home country. Bruno and Slasher were the two members of the Fists who operated the mini-tank. The mini-tank was used to intimidate other gangs in the Bronx; it was mistaken for a robot by others. When Fist sent Bruno and Slasher to attack Kickers, Inc., Jack Magniconte wrecked the mini-tank's gun arm and tangled up the vehicle in electrical wires, then blasted it with a jet of water from a hydrant, electrifying the mini-tank and rendering it inoperable. Magniconte dragged Bruno and Slasher out of the vehicle; moments later, Fist activated a self-destruct device which blew up the mini-tank.

The mini-tank had twin tank treads. Its right arm had a gripping mechanism while its left arm was a high-caliber machine gun. The mini-tank was built from sturdy materials and could smash through walls.
