First Appearance: Thanos I#1 (December, 2003)
Powers/Abilities: The only exotic beast seen existed in interplanetary space, able to survive and navigate the cold and vacuum of space. It can also enter and fly within a planetary atmosphere. Drawn to energy signatures, it may or may not feed on energy.
It is unclear whether it is translucent, with shining stars showing through its forms or whether it has star-like patterns on their bodies. Based on some stars being show both on the edge of its body and the space behind it, the former seems more likely.
It is unrevealed whether it is composed of energy or whether it is organic or something else. It emits a yellow glow from its eyes,mouth, and nostrils.
It possesses wings for flying and a long tail, which may help with balance and/or navigation.
Its digits end in sharp talons, presumably indicating that it can rend or slash objects or beings, as well as sharp fanged teeth, but perhaps these are merely for show, to make them appear more dangerous.
It has fin-like ears and a number of spiky projections running down its back and extending down its tail, as well as on the caudal/posterior
Traits: Warlock noted the exotic beasts to be "beautiful and fairly harmless." They are attracted to powerful energy signatures.

(plus spiked extension extending from the caudal ("posterior" if it
were an upright biped) aspect of tarsus (ankle) -- what would equate to
the calcaneal tuberosity (where the "Achilles tendon" attaches))
Skin (or perhaps just its outer surface) color: Purple
Average length Approximately 25' (it is difficult to estimate,
as the 6'7" Thanos is sitting down, but its length looks to be over 3
times his height; not including the tail, which would at least double
its length)
History:

I#1) - Following the devastation of Rigel-3 (the replacement homeworld
for the Rigellians following the Rhunians/Black Stars' destruction of
their previous homeworld, also called Rigel-3) at the hands of one of
the Thanosi (Thanos doppelgangers) and the Mangog and the abandoning of
Rigel-3 by the Rigellians, a number of beings described by Adam Warlock
as "exotic beasts" inhabited that sector of space.
They may have been there before, but it would seem likely that
Rigellians defenses would have prevented their entering Rigel-3's
atmosphere.
(Thanos I#1 (fb) - BTS) - Following his recovery after sacrificing the power of the Heart of the Infinite in the process of recreating the universe he had destroyed, Thanos traveled to Rigel-3 to contemplate his existence and future.
Thanos hoped that the universe would belive him to have perished, but Adam Warlock -- via his Soul Infinity Gem, sensed Thanos' continued existence.
An unexplainable and irresistable urge drove Adam Warlock to the sector of space containing Rigel-3.

I#1 (fb) - BTS) - Adam Warlock came across many creatures he noted to
be "exotic beasts" on his journey toward Rigel-3. He considered them to
be beautiful and fairly harmless.
(Thanos I#1) - One of these exotic space beast approached Thanos, presumably attracted by Thanos' energy signature, an approaching Adam Warlock drove off the creature to prevent Thanos from slaying it.
Thanos thanked Warlock and acknowledged that he would have slain the creature.

The creature pictured in this profile was featured in the first four
panels of this issue (including the main image, which was a two-page
spread). Adam Warlock mentioned having encountered "many" of these
exotic beasts, which suggests that this being is part of a race rather
than a unique being; otherwise, why would Warlock draw conclusions on
it based on the behavior of others?
Anyway, that's the reason I did this via a race
template.
I would love to get a name for this race and some more background information...maybe someday...
