(My Own Romance I#73/3) - Eve was in love with Harry Wilkes and thought he was committed to her, but one day while Eve was waiting outside his office she overheard him on the office intercom talking to a woman named Flo as he planned a date with her the following day at the Golden Swan restaurant. The next day, Eve followed up on what she'd overheard and went to the Golden Swan, where she found Harry with Flo. Harry insisted Flo was an "old friend" who'd come to town but Eve didn't accept his explanations then ended their relationship.
Eve's ordeal with Harry soured her on dating but her mother finally convinced her to try again. Eve went on a date with John Redmond, who could see that Eve was defensive but encouraged her to trust him. Although their relationship went well, Eve realized she was still very jealous and suspicious of John but tried to change her ways. One day, a friend of Eve's told her John had been seen with another woman at his work. Eve tried to pretend she wasn't bothered. Attempting to fish for information, she asked John about his work but he didn't mention any female colleagues. Eve's suspicions continued to mount.
One day, Eve saw John in a jewelry store with another woman shopping for an engagement ring. Devastated, Eve feared this proved all of her suspicions about John. She withdrew from John, refusing to speak to him. A few days later, the woman she'd seen with John came to Eve's home and explained she was John's sister and the engagement ring John had been shopping for was for Eve. Eve was humiliated, thinking she could never win John back after her behavior but John's sister told her that although she'd have to swallow her pride and apologize to him, she could still win him back.
Eve went to John and admitted how she'd distrusted him and apologized for her behavior. John forgave her and they embraced.

Eve's mother helped her get back into dating after she'd been betrayed by Harry Wilkes. When Eve thought John Redmond had fallen for another woman, Eve's mother received phone calls for Eve from John but Eve refused to answer them.
