Powers/Abilities: Erastus didn't really get much opportunity to display any skills. He was likely something of a brawler, given his temperament, but also not very good at it, given he lost the only fight we know about. He wasn't very good at preventing blood escaping from his cut carotid artery, though the same would presumably be true for most people in his situation.

History:
(Men of Wrath#1 (fb) - BTS) - Erastus Grievers lived in Choctaw County, Alabama in the early 20th century. He was known to be a man of foul temperament and disagreeable demeanor, and not well-liked as a result. In 1903 he deliberately let some of his ill-cared for sheep, mangy, half-dead animals, graze on the land of local farmer Isom Rath, then a few days later came by to claim ownership of the sheep, but tried to lie about which ones were his, attempting to take the biggest, fattest sheep Isom had. Words were exchanged and then punches were thrown, until Isom, who had always been a peaceable man until then, was taken over by a fit of rage he'd never experienced before, took out his pocket knife and stabbed Erastus in the neck. 

(Men of Wrath#1) - Bleeding profusely Erastus stumbled away from Isom, who was in shock at his own actions. Isom sent his son Alford to get the sheriff, then watched as Erastis collapsed in the field amid the sheep he'd tried to steal, and died.

(Men of Wrath#1 - BTS) - Few mourned for Erastus. Isom got only eight months for the killing, and was out in time to harvest his crops. He never spilled another drop of blood, not even killing his own sheep. However witnessing Erastus' killing had woken something dark in Alford, and Isom's descendants would live up to their surname.

   Men of Wrath was a creator-owned Icon series. Despite this, it could still be set on Earth-616, as it takes place in a relatively contained location away from the areas most of Marvel's superhero comics are set. Additionally, if we assume that the modern day sequences take place around the same time the comic came out, then the events will soon have all taken place prior to the Fantastic Four's spaceflight thanks to the sliding timescale, and thus in an era when there were few superhumans operating.

   This profile was completed on 09/15/2026, but its publication was delayed as it was intended for the Appendix 25th anniversary's celebratory event to represent Men of Wrath.
