History:
(Wally the Wizard#1) - In an effort to undermine King Kodger and claim the kingdom for himself, Vastar the Vile had his wizard Erasmo tap the lava pool under his home Bludmire Castle. Erasmo crafted a giant mechanical locust that could devour anything. Erasmo used the regal beamer in the castle tower to guide the locust's quartz brain and set it upon the kingdom, causing much chaos and panic. The king sent his army led by Sir Flauntaroy against it to no avail. The king and Princess Penelope fled to safety, but the locust intercepted their carriage. However, heroic Wally the West flew in on a helpful dragon that picked up the metal locust and went to throw it into the sun. Erasmo complained the locust was out of the beamer's range while Vastar swore revenge on Wally and Vastar's half-sister Sybilious whined.
(Wally the Wizard#3 (fb) - BTS) - Vengeful Vastar and
Erasmo found out Wally was on a quest for his long-lost parents, so they
hired wandering minstrels Humm and Strumbroke to provide misinformation
and lead Wally into a trap.
(Wally the Wizard#3) - Wally was captured in the forest
by Vastar and Erasmo. The dire wizard (astride an ostrich-like creature)
had two demon-like creatures cut Wally down from a toffee tree and put
in a cage, then carted off to Bludmire Castle to be held for ransom for
a spell from Marlin the magician.
(Wally the Wizard#5/1) - Vastar had Penelope kidnapped (to
be ransomed for Kodger abdicating rule of the kingdom) and Erasmo then
erected a force field around Bludmire Castle. With help of his close
demon friend Gorg, Wally found a hole at the top of the force field that
let chimney smoke out and rescued Penelope. Wally left a cloak over the
hole, which blocked the smoke, choking the Castle's denizens, and Erasmo
was forced to collapse the force field.
(Wally the Wizard#10/1) - Wally had another nightmare that
Vastar and Erasmo were pursuing Penelope, and considered it an omen; he
had a similar vision later. Concerned, Wally set on a mission to
infiltrate Bludmire Castle with friends Jay and Alaina. Wally had stolen
Marlin's tiny gnoot-gnats, which voraciously fed on items dusted with
Marlin's secret Sprut powder. Although Erasmo spotted Alaina's
approaching wagon on his Far-See Scope, the secret trio still made it
inside the castle and saw Erasmo demonstrate to Vastar his latest
invention (infused with "dark power") that charged an item to absorb
matter, thereby growing in size. Erasmo showed this effect using a grape
absorbing a spoon; the grape expanded to the size of a grapefruit.
Fearful, Wally shook Sprut powder on Erasmo and Vastar, but was captured
with Jay. Outside, Erasmo magically rolled forward the grape, which grew
larger with every item it absorbed (like a small tree), toward King
Kodger's castle. Heroic Sir Flauntaroy charged at the giant grape with a
lance, but was ingested whole as well, much to the amusement of Erasmo,
Vastar and Sybilious. Wally escaped and let loose the gnoot-gnats, which
promptly ate the clothes of Erasmo and Vastar, now embarrassed. Gorg
helped Wally eliminate the now-giant grape using Sprut powder and
gnoot-gnats. Dressed in new garb, Vastar and Erasmo sought direct
revenge but Wally again used Sprut and gnoot-gnats on them. With all
three nearly naked, Vastar and Sybilious angrily chased Erasmo, blaming
him for the embarrassment.

Sybilious incorrectly called the wizard "Erasmus" in Wally
the Wizard#10, but there are a couple of inconsistencies when
gnoot-gnats are cited too.
"Erasmo" is apparently a masculine given name of Greek/Latin origin translating to "beloved" or "lovable", and is the Spanish & Italian variation of the name Erasmus. I have no idea what the character was called in any translation of these Mediterranean languages; an odd choice of name for sure (although there was a real-life influential Renaissance-era theologian and scholar called Erasmus--he was no magician tho').
This profile was completed on 04/19/2026,
but its publication was delayed as it was intended for the Appendix 25th
anniversary's celebratory event to represent Wally the Wizard.

Erasmo has no known connections to:
Humm and Strumbroke were wandering minstrels who provided
news in song form. Knowing Wally the Wizard was on a quest to find his
parents, Erasmo hired the minstrels to sing of two people matching
Wally's parents' vocations and they gave the naive boy a map to where
Erasmo had a trap ready for him.
