History: (X-Force I#100 (fb) - BTS) - In this reality, Benjamin Russel, Theresa Rourke, Roberto Da Costa, Nathan Summers, Tabitha Smith, Danielle Moonstar, and Caliban were all patients of the Weisman Institute for the Criminally Insane. Russel was diagnosed as suffering from severe trauma that caused him to believe himself to be an extradimensional hero. Summers was likewise treated as delusional due to his insistence that he had traveled from the future to prevent an apocalypse. Ms. Rourke was said to at a young age have lost her mother and to have been raised by her uncle after being abandoned by her father, which contributed to her becoming a petty criminal with a history of substance abuse and to losing her voice after screaming continuously for two days straight. The counterpart of Caliban was said to have the mental capacity of a child yet was strong enough to send two orderlies to a hospital. Ms. Smith was judged to be suffering from deep and manic depression after surviving an encounter with the serial killer Victor Creed. The hospital also hid a dirty secret: young Mr. Da Costa was known not to be ill yet was kept institutionalized and medicated because his rich father paid to keep him that way.
(X-Force I#100 - BTS) - On Earth-616, members of the X-Force entered the Cathedral created by the Queen of the Star Swords and found themselves scattered across different realities, where they encountered alternate versions of the X-Force.
(X-Force I#100) - Cannonball (Sam Guthrie) and
Meltdown (Tabitha Smith) found themselves at the Weisman Institute of
this reality. They followed two doctors, one of whom was introducing
her new colleague, Dr. Elizondo, to his new workplace. Elizondo was
shown the most problematic patients of the Institute, including the
dirty secret of Roberto Da Costa. Realizing that he and Meltdown had
been
transported into an alternate reality, Cannonball revealed his true
nature and
grabbed the list of patients from Dr. Elizondo to find who else was
being kept at the hospital.
Elizondo's fellow doctor saw Meltdown and threatened to call security to return her to her room, but Tabitha responded by throwing her mutant-powered time bombs that caused the doctors to flee. Cannonball and Meltdown found Dani Moonstar listed as a patient in another wing and went to her room, only to find themselves back inside the Cathedral on Earth-616.
(X-Force I#100 - BTS) - Tabitha Smith speculated that the patients of the Weisman Institute could have been gaslight by a being such as Gamesmaster or the Shadow King.
Comments: Created by John Francis Moore, Jim Cheung and Chris Renaud.
The true nature of this reality remains unrevealed. One possibility, as speculated by Tabitha, is that the patients were actual members of the X-Force, held against their will and possibly gaslit into believing the falsehoods about them. The other possibility, as believed by Sam, is that the information given by the doctors was factual, and that the would-be X-Force members of this reality were indeed deeply traumatized individuals who genuinely needed medical help.
Because of this ambiguity, the information about the past history of this reality is not presented by this profile as either factual or falsified but instead left open to interpretation.
