History:

(X-Men: The Animated Series cartoon - "Sanctuary - Part I" (fb) - BTS) - Doc Samson was among numerous scientific and medical specialists selected by Magneto to help build Asteroid M, a mutants-only sanctuary where mutants could live apart from humanity and free from its cruelty.

(X-Men: The Animated Series cartoon - "Sanctuary - Part I") - The specialists' disappearance was discussed during a United Nations meeting, where Magneto appeared and announced the liberation of mutantkind, revealing that the missing specialists had helped him create Asteroid M. Sometime later, while searching for his friend Byron Calley, X-Man Gambit discovered files on Doc Samson and the other missing specialists which included Francisco Milan and Dr. Alec Bohlon.

(X-Men '97: Strike Files I#7 (fb) - BTS) - Doc Samson was contacted by X-Factor's government liaison, Dr. Valerie Cooper, to help interview potential new recruits. Samson was tasked with evaluating the candidates and determining whether their psychological profiles made them suitable for field work.

(X-Men '97: Strike Files I#7) - Having arrived at X-Factor's headquarters in Washington, D.C., Samson interviewed Arclight, Rictor, Granny Smite, and Wild Child while Havok and Dr. Cooper observed from behind a one-way window. However, none of the four potential recruits met the required profile to join the team. Before Samson could leave, another potential recruit entered the room: Theresa Cassidy, also known as Siryn. Late for her interview because it was the birthday of her late father, Banshee, who had died in the massacre on Genosha, Siryn admitted she was struggling with his death and was looking for something to focus all of her anger on, lest she drown in it. Seemingly impressed by his conversation with Siryn, Samson thanked her for her time and told her they would contact her if they had any additional questions. Before Siryn could leave, however, Dr. Cooper entered the room, believing she was the right fit for X-Factor, and offered her membership on the team, which Siryn gladly accepted.

Comments: Created by Roy Thomas and Herb Trimpe;
    adapted by Steven Melching, David Dermott and AKOM Productions.

The specialists shown on Gambit's screen included Doc Samson, Acolyte member Francisco Milan and Dr. Alec Bohlon, the ophthalmologist who had previously helped Beast restore Carly's sight. Another image resembled DC Comics villain Thaddeus Sivana, although this was presumably intended only as a visual reference rather than an actual appearance by the character.

When, in 2015's Secret Wars, the Multiverse was destroyed following the incursions of planets it appeared as if Reality-92131 was drafted onto Battleworld as the Westchester domain. However, this has since been debunked. As such the reality seen in the two volumes of X-Men '92 (2015 and 2016-2017) now have their own reality-designation of Earth-15730. The X-Men '92: House of XCII (2022) series was inspired by both the animated series and Hickman's House of X run but is its own separate reality. The limited series X-Men '97 (2024), however, is Reality-92131 and bridges the gap between the original X-Men: The Animated Series cartoon and the new X-Men '97: The Animated Series cartoon.
