History:
(Marvel Team-Up I#65 (fb) - BTS) - At some point, a man named Beatty graduated university with his diploma, which he later framed on his office wall when he accepted the position of Dean of Students at Empire State University. Some time later, Dean Beatty sent a letter to Empire State University student Peter Parker requesting that he meet in Beatty's office. After losing sleep over Dean Beatty's letter, Peter Parker set his alarm early so he could get to Beatty's office on time and after he overslept, Beatty's secretary called Parker to remind him of the meeting.

(Marvel Team-Up I#65) - Parker rushed over the ESU as Spider-Man, arriving very late and apologizing to Dean Beatty as he entered the office door. Dean Beatty assured Parker everything was okay, sarcastically noting that they had only been waiting an hour. Parker quickly asked if something was wrong and Beatty assured Parker the situation was quite to the contrary, as he wanted to introduce Parker to exchange student Brian Braddock. Reminding Parker that he had signed a questionnaire alongside other scholarship students, Dean Beatty began hinting that he was assigned Brian to stay in Peter Parker's ESU apartment while he was in America. Parker protested at first but when Dean Beatty mentioned that Parker would receive $50 a week for Brian's room and board, a now-smiling Parker shook hands with Brian and remarked that he now had a temporary roommate. Once the two young men had introduced themselves, Dean Beatty reminded them that some people worked for a living and sarcastically ordered them to scram.
