Powers/Abilities/Functions: The Cyberwolves were robots designed to mimick the appearances of wolves. They traveled on four legs and their bodies exteriors were built of bullet-resistant materials. The Cyberwolves' tails could fire a grappling cable to snare enemies then reel them in toward the wolves. The Cyberwolves were programmed to hunt targets together like a pack (evidently interacting through a computer network) and they would retreat from combat given a serious enough obstacle.
History:
(The Cavalry: S.H.I.E.L.D. 50th Anniversary I#1) - The Cyberwolves had been active at the site of a former Hydra base, having evidently been activated and left there for some time. When S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Melinda May used the site to train four cadets, the Cyberwolves defended the territory, attacking her and the cadets. The Cyberwolves were immune to bullets fired at them by May, but when one of them snared her with the grappling cable in its tail, once she was near enough to reach its mouth, she fired her gun inside the mouth of the Cyberwolf, striking something vital which rendered it inoperable. The rest of the Cyberwolves fled when their comrade was beaten.
The Cyberwolves went to attack Randall, a cadet who had been left at another location to serve as a "hostage" in the training exercise. From tapping into the shared visual feed via the downed Cyber Wolf, May and the other cadets realized he was in jeopardy and came to rescue him. May activated an electromagnetic pulse from inside her Tancharoen Hawk aircraft and it disabled the remaining Cyberwolves.
May brought one of the Cyberwolves back to a S.H.I.E.L.D. base and examined it with Phil Coulsen. Coulsen confessed he didn't recognize the Cyberwolves.
Comments: Created by Jon Houser and Luke Ross.
The Cyberwolves were most likely built by Hydra and forgotten about when the base was destroyed.
The Cyberwolves were termed such by Coulsen; since they couldn't speak and their origins were unknown, we don't know what their creators would have called them.
