History:

(Fantastic Four#605.1 (fb)) The Interdimensional Council of Reeds was formed to solve everything by three versions of Reed Richards from Earth-12498, Earth-98570 and Earth-99107. Each of them had obtained their universe's Infinity Gauntlet, and they independently built the Bridge, a gateway to fabricated pocket reality outside of the universal structure which became the Council's headquarters. Other Reeds were also invited to the Council after they had built the Bridge in their own reality.

(FF I#14 (fb)) Reed-12498 showed an Ultimate Nullifer to Reed-99107 and Reed-98570. Reed-99107 noted that to use such a weapon was to die, but Reed-98570 countered that with complete focus and alignment of mind and purpose the device could be used without destroying its wielder.

(Fantastic Four#572 (fb) - BTS) Each Reed who had joined the Council would eventually abandon their friends and family, with the cost of saving everything being too great for anyone but Reeds to understand.

(Fantastic Four#571 (fb) - BTS) The Council developed control collars that shut off higher brain functions, using them to lobotomize dozens of Doctor Dooms from various realities who were then placed in the Hole deep beneath the Council chambers.

(FF I#3 (fb) - BTS) The Council had used the Sol's Anvil to crush a Beyonder from reality-5202.

(Fantastic Four#571 (fb) - BTS) Reed-99107 terraformed a 25-square-mile patch of a barren, uninhabitable planet in reality-8901 into the food-producing Farm. After the initial success, Reed-99107 expanded the Farm to cover the entire planet, and then hundreds of others.

(Dark Reign: Fantastic Four#5) After building and activating the Bridge, Reed Richards of Earth-616 was contacted by the Council.

(Fantastic Four#583 (fb) - BTS) Reed-616 left a worklog entry about his first contact with the Council on August 12.

(Fantastic Four#570) Three days later, Reed-616 responded to the invitation and was welcomed by three of his counterparts from Earth-12, Earth-4280, and Earth-6590. They led him to their base of operations where Reed-616 was welcomed by the three founders of the Council, just as an alarm warned about Galactus approaching Earth-2012.

(Fantastic Four#571 (fb)) Several members of the Council, including newcomer Reed-616, traveled to Earth-2012 and killed its version of Galactus with the Ultimate Nullifiers.

(Fantastic Four#571) As Reed-616 was getting acclimated to his first day with the Council, Reed-99107 took him to Earth-8901 and showed Reed-616 the Farm, urging him to think big.

Two days later, Reed-98570 took Reed-616 to Earth-45 where the Council defeated the local Doctor Doom. Reed-616 saw the Council neutralize Doom's brain functions and place him in the Hole with other Dooms.

The next day, Reed-12498 took Reed-616 to his native universe and guided him in performing a stellar surgery on an unstable star, saving eight billion people. After that, Reed-616 received an official invitation to join the Council as a full member.

(Fantastic Four#571 (fb) - BTS) The "Mad" Celestials of Earth-4280 overpowered that reality's Reed Richards. They opened his mind, learning about the Council and the means to access it through the Bridge on Earth-4280.

(Fantastic Four#571) After a day of deliberation, Reed-616 accepted the invitation to become a full member of the Council. Not a moment later, an alarm sounded and Reed-19318 informed the others that the Council had been compromised. Reed-4280 confessed to what he had done, as the Celestials have breached the Council chambers.

(Fantastic Four#572) Reed-57166 looked into the minds of the Celestials and saw that they desired to use the Council's headquarters to launch a multiversal conquest. The Celestials executed him, along with Reed-99107, Reed-98570 and Reed-65725. Reed-616 used his stretching abilities to get himself and Reed-12498 out of the blast. Reed-12498 asked Reed-39716 to open the portal inside his body to Earth-12498 so that he could use his Infinity Gauntlet. Reed-39716 agreed and did what was asked, even though the effort killed him as he knew it would.

Now armed with an Infinity Gauntlet, Reed-12498 began fighting back, while also asking Reeds of Earth-616, Earth-29682, Earth-19890, Earth-52601 and Earth-25990 to return to their Earths and bring aid; Reed-52601 was killed before he could depart. Of the remaining four, Reed-616 was the only one who returned, bringing advanced weapons from the laboratory. Using his Universal Entropy Gun, Reed-12498 hurt one of the Celestials hard enough to make it bleed energy. The Celestials retreated, through five of them slipped into two other universes using open Bridges, Reed-12498 ordered to isolate those universes and assemble a hunting party from the Council members not present during the attack.

After helping the injured Reed-19318, Reed-616 was told to stay behind and look after the wounded. Reed-4280 who survived the attack lamented that Celestials' invasion of his mind had broken it, and that his genius intellect was gone. When Reed-616 tried to console him, Reed-4280 revealed that it was the only thing left in his life, as like every other Council member he had abandoned his friends and family behind to focus on the work. Upon hearing this, Reed-616 rushed back home to his wife, effectively quitting.

(Fantastic Four#583 (fb) - BTS) Reed-616 left a worklog entry about the failure of the Council on August 23, mere 11 days after the first contact.

(Fantastic Four#588 - BTS) Analyzing the list of threats facing Earth-616, Reed-616 came to the conclusion that the reformation of the Council was necessary.

(Fantastic Four#583 (fb)) Valeria Richards-616 discovered her father's Bridge and worklog entries detailing his experience with the Council. She reactivated the Bridge and came upon the destroyed Council headquarters, where the last seven members were all that was left after the attacks from Celestials. Valeria and the Reeds ran back to her reality's Bridge, Reed-19318, Reed-91582 and Reed-82129 were killed during the escape, while the remainding four - Reed-4280, Reed-12498, Reed-11470 and Reed-25990 safely made it to Earth-616.

(FF I#3 (fb)) With the Bridge sealed behind them, the four remaining Council members were stranded on Earth-616. A scan by Reed-4280 showed that this reality possessed none of the power sources that the Reeds considered standard, prompting a comment on how Reed-616 was wasting his time. A further scan identified four promising power sources located on a suitably curved axis, and the Council decided to build another Sol's Anvil so they could return home. They bid Valeria farewell, saying that her father still had a place among them if he wished. The four Reeds then left to secure each of the four locations.

Reed-11470 focused on the Peak, or Old Atlantis, located deep under the ice of Antarctica and inhabited by three races: the Chordai, the Mala, and the Uhari. He killed one of the Uhari to access memories in his brain, showing that the Uhari were plotting against the Chordai and the Mala and promising to help in removing them from power.

Reed-4280 went to the Forever City of the High Evolutionary. Its Ascension Engine was running wild, transforming Mole Man's moloids who came to live in it into larger and stronger forms. Reed-4280 made a deal with the Mole Man in exchange for stopping the diminishing of his people.

Reed-25990 traveled to the Blue Area of the Moon to treat with the Univesal Inhumans. He offered them a deal, but the Centaurian telepath Arris revealed that he was lying to them. Queen Oola gave a signal, and Reed-25990 was executed on the spot.

Reed-12498 ventured to the Negative Zone, and through the Anti-Priest had secured an audience with Annihilus. Explaining his situation, he asked to open a large portal through the Negative Zone, and Annihilus agreed in exchange for the portal being kept open for his forces to follow.

(FF I#3) The three surviving Reeds observed the construction of the Sol's Anvil while confirming that the failure of Reed-25990 did not significantly affect their plans. With the construction on schedule, Reed-12498 declared their readiness to ignite a war and sacrifice Earth-616 for the greater good.

(FF I#4) Reed-11470 succeded in uniting the Chordai and the Mala against the Uhari, and their combined assault clashed against the defensive shield around the Peak. Invisible Woman, Spider-Man and Alex Power arrived to help the Uhari, at which point Mole Man and his army emerged to aid Reed-4280 whom Susan had recognized with a shock.

(FF I#5) Reed-4280 told Mole Man to have his Moloids assemble the machine while he provided a distraction by concentrating the fire at the weak spot in the Peak's shield. Susan tried to talk to Reed, but as he removed his visor, she recognized he was not her husband just as he shot her with an energy weapon. The Peak's sheild was broken, and Reed-4280 ordered Mole Man to destroy the city, with the Chordai and the Mala realizing that they were betrayed.

Back in the Forever City of the High Evolutionary, the three Reeds agreed to fix the malfunctioning Ascension Engine in exchange for the city's Moloids no longer accepting refugees from the Mole Man. A shadow of Attilan loomed over them as the Earth's Inhumans have returned from space.

(FF I#8) The Inhumans launched an assault on the Forever City, and the moloids allied with Reeds fought back. Reed-616 arrived to stop his counterparts, accompanied by several villains temporarily allied with his goals. Doctor Doom grabbed Reed-11470 and demanded information about their weapon, only to be betrayed and stabbed in the back by Mad Thinker (Julius) and Diablo (Esteban Corazon de Ablo).

(FF I#9) Observing the battle, Reed-4280 noted that numerical superiority of the Inhumans. Reed-12498 ordered to shut down the Ascension Engine and retreat, as the Engine remaining intact was more vital than the appearance of a victory, and the Mole Man had abandoned them. Reed-4280 was captured by the Triton, while Reed-11470 was captured by Karnak. Reed-12498 faced Doctor Doom and managed to placed him in the control collar, gaining power over him as they departed for Latveria.

(FF I#10) Reed-12948 arrived in Doomstadt, where he was greeted by Earth-616 counterpart of his father Nathaniel Richards. Reed-12498 recognized him as a rarity in the Multiverse and realized that the last surviving Nathaniel was the father of Earth-616 Reed, explaining his difference from the others.

(FF I#11) Reed-4280 and Reed-11470 were taken as prisoners to Attilan. Ronan the Accuser used the Supremor Seed and the Ascension Engine to transform their bodies into the new Supreme Intelligence, effectively killing them.

(Fantastic Four#600) Nathaniel Richards asked Kristoff Vernard to welcome Reed-12498 to Latveria even though he held his father in chains, as Victor von Doom's life depended on it.

(FF I#12) The children of the Future Foundation also arrived to Doomstadt by teleporting the top of the Baxter Building there. They agreed to rebuild the Bridge so that Reed-12498 could return home.

(FF I#13) The Bridge was activated, and Reed-12498 stepped through, followed by Doom, Kristoff, Nathaniel, Valeria, and the Future Foundation kids. The Celestials of Earth-4280 were still there, and Doom demanded that Reed-12498 release him. He refused until Valeria produced an Ultimate Nullifer, forcing Reed to comply.

One of the Celestials had jammed the Bridge open, preventing it from closing and creating a direct path to Earth-616 for them. Seeking to atone for his actions, Reed-12498 asked Valeria for the Ultimate Nullifier and offered to stay behind and destroy the Bridge after everyone had evacuated. Doom decided to stay behind as well.

(FF I#14) Reed-12498 told Doom to step aside and fired the Ultimate Nullifier at one of the Celestials. However, he lost his focus and was consumed by the device, ending the Council with him.

(Fantastic Four#604 - BTS) Nathaniel Richards-616 told his son Reed that him building the Bridge and meeting the Council, only for it to be destroyed by the Celestials were universal constants which always happened through time.

SECRET WARS III HAPPENED

(Marvel 2-In-One Annual (fb) - BTS) Following the Secret Wars and the restoration of the Multiverse as the Eight Cosmos, a group of Reeds had re-established the Council. Having learned from their predecessors' mistakes, this new Council recognized the bonds of family and friendship as important. They developed Council Badges that duplicated the members so that they could spend time with their loves ones and work with the Council at the same time. Upon the return to their native universe, their memories would merge, preserving the unity of experience. They also used the device called Telelacus for sorting and repairing the combined memories of Reeds.

(Marvel 2-In-One Annual (fb)) While he was away at the Council, Reed-XXXX along with the rest of the Fantastic Four was killed by his universe's Doctor Doom, who was aware of the Council and built blockers preventing other Richardses from accessing his universe. The Council worked on changing the multiversal signature of Reed-18858 so that he could return home without merging with his own corpse.

(Marvel 2-In-One Annual) The Council Badge of Reed-18858 was picked up by Iron Man/reformed Victor von Doom of Earth-616 who had traveled to Earth-18858 using the Multisect device left behind by Reed-616. Doom was duplicated and found himself in the ne Council's chambers where he immediately berated the foolish Richardses for rebuilding the Council. After hearing how this new Council was different from the old one, Doom accused them of messing with his memories.

The Reeds used Telelacus to access Doom's memories from the immediate aftermath of the Secret Wars, revealing that it was Reed-616 who tampered with his memories, hoping that Doom would show his better side if he believed that his nemesis Richards was dead. They observed as the duplicate of Doom-616 left behind on Earth-18858 had defeated and killed his local counterpart. Doom refused to apologize for it, blaming Richards for tampering with his memories and abandoning his family in his care. The Reeds returned Doom back to Earth-18858, as he warned that this Council would end the same as the old one. After Doom left, the Reeds discussed how the damage to him was too deep and declared their new goal to not let any more children suffer his fate.

(Marvel 2-In-One#11 (fb) - BTS) Reed Richards-616 was meeting with the new Council of Reed and told about the meetings to his friend, Victor von Doom of Earth-P-1837.

(Venom IV#7 (fb) - BTS) The Council of Reeds began working with the Maker/Reed Richards of Earth-1610 who studied the properties of the symbiotes as part of the "Project Oversight".

(Venom IV#20) The Maker informed the Council of his progress: the theories he developed about the symbiotes, his failed attempts to open a dimensional rift back to his original reality-1610, and his success in extracting the Venom Symbiote from it. His next goal was to repair the symbiote of Earth-1610 using symbiote codices from Earth-616, use the symbiote to return to his home universe without damage to his body or psyche, and then restore the Earth-1610 itself. The Council approved, as the latter was a necessary requirement for the Maker's full admission to the Council, where no Reed stoon on a broken universe.

(Venom IV#35 (fb) - BTS) After becoming the King in Black, Eddie Brock-616 visited the Avengers, the Quiet Council of Krakoa, the Guardians of the Galaxy and the Silver Surfer, telling them that the Maker planned to answer the challenge to restore Earth-1610 issued by the Council of Reeds by invading Earth-616 and replacing it with his own.

A similar gathering of multiversal Reed Richardses appears in Fantastic Four III#58 and Franklin Richards: Sons of Geniuses. However, these Reeds only advise each other through a teleconference call and do not appear to share the agenda or the membership of the Council.

The plotline involving the Council of Reeds, the Maker and the Symbiotes has been left unresolved, as real-life circumstances resulted in the return of the Ultimate comics taking place on the new Earth-6160 rather than restored Earth-1610.

When discussiing Celestials, Dark Beast of Earth-295 had claimed in X-Termination#1 that the Celestial counterparts within each alternate reality were merely aspects of their singular Multiversal beings. Whether that is true, the Mad Celestials of Earth-4280 exhibit notably different behavior from most other Celestials and thus are treated as separate versions.

(Fantastic Four#605.1 (fb)) Nazi scientist Reed Richards grafted a portion of Victor von Doom's brain onto himself. The exposure to cosmic rays expanded his mind, and he orchestrated the murder of the fuhrer Adolf Hitler, usurping the leadership of the Nazi party. The heroes of the world opposed him, and Reed fought them back with his Infinity Gauntlet. In a moment of weakness, he lost control and destroyed the planet, the galaxy, and possibly everything else in the Universe except for himself. Left alone with infinite time and godlike power, he constructed the Bridge and formed the Council together with Reeds from Earth-12498 and Earth-99107.

(Fantastic Four#570) Reed Richards of Earth-57166 with enlarged head and telepathic powers was a member of the Council of Reeds.

(Fantastic Four#572) When Celestials of Earth-4280 breached the Council chambers, Reed-57166 looked into their minds for their intentions. The Celestials wanted the Council to be the staging area for their conquest and executed the intruder into their collective by exploding his head.

Reed Richards (Earth-19318)

(Fantastic Four#570) Reed Richards of Earth-19318 with the power of Starbrand was a member of the Council of Reeds.

(Fantastic Four#571) Reed-19318 warned the others that one of the Bridge gateways has been breached and that the Council was compromised.

(Fantastic Four#572) Reed-19318 fought against the Celestials of Earth-4280 who attacked the Council. He was hit by an energy beam fired by a Celestial and was injured.

While one copy of Reed was at the Council, his other half was killed by Doctor Doom along with the rest of the Fantastic Four. The Council worked on changing the multiversal signature of Reed-18858 so that upon his return home he would not merge with his own corpse.

(Marvel 2-In-One Annual) Picking up the Council Badge of Reed-18858, Iron Man/reformed Victor von Doom of Earth-616 discovered the Council and argued with them. After he was sent back, the Council discussed their new goal of not letting any children suffer.
