History:

(G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero I#111) - When Cobra occupied the Emirate of Benzheen, Cool Breeze was a recent recruit into the G.I. Joe team who was deployed by the U.S. Government to help drive Cobra out of the country. Cool Breeze was placed on a recon team alongside Stalker, Ambush, Recoil and Sneak Peek who kept tabs on the Joe's ninja team as they performed a stealth mission in Cobra-occupied territory. Stalker noted that Cool Breeze seemed very sure of himself but Cool Breeze simply said none of them would have been given the assignment if they weren't the best. When Stalker asked Cool Breeze if he knew what "hubris" was, Cool Breeze replied he had "plenty of it" but he deserved it.

(G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero I#112) - When Sneak Peek reported the ninja team had avoided combat. Cool Breeze opined that if they could have handled it if they had to cover the other team. Sneak Peek caught sight of team of Cobra's Night Creepers in the rooftops nearby. Cool Breeze remained confident the ninjas could handle the Night Creepers, although Ambush and Recoil informed him Snake Eyes and Scarlett were both still recovering from recent injuries.

When Sneak Peek saw the Night Creepers were about to catch up to the ninja team, Cool Breeze suggested they should break radio silence and warn the ninjas. Stalker told him that as the "new guy" it wasn't his job to determine whether their mission had been blown and if they engaged the Night Creepers, they'd alert all the Cobra forces in the area. However, Cool Breeze countered that Recoil was carrying a jammer and proposed they use it to jam signals from the Night Creepers so the ninja team could escape. Stalker realized it was a good plan and ordered Recoil to use the jammer. When the ninjas subsequently defeated the Night Creepers, Cool Breeze told Stalker he should be written up for a medal, but Stalker was certain their use of the jammer would be noticed by Cobra and decided the team would have to break their own cover so Cobra would pin the jamming on them, leaving the ninja team undetected. Stalker irately told Cool Breeze to avoid making suggestions when he didn't know "diddly."

Stalker's recon team set out across the desert, deliberately leaving a trail, when they noticed heavy vehicles from the G.I. Joe team passing nearby. The recon team soon discovered the vehicles had been commandeered by Faoud, who wanted to use the situation with Cobra as a pretext to overthrow Bezheen's government and install himself as president. The recon team quickly killed Faoud's followers while Stalker took Faoud prisoner. When a Cobra helicopter came near, following the recon team's tracks, Cool Breeze tossed his dogtags to Stalker then ran out into the desert, hoping to draw the helicopter away from the vehicles. Using Recoil's jammer, Cool Breeze prevented the helicopter from notifying anyone; he expected to be killed, but discovered the helicopter had been commandeered by the ninja team. Scarlett was impressed at Cool Breeze's courage, saying, "you must be one bad dude!" When Cool Breeze reflected what that compliment meant, coming from the ninja team, he exclaimed, "Wow! I must be bad!"

As Stalker helped Cool Breeze aboard the Hammer vehicle, Faoud grabbed Stalker's sidearm from his belt. Seeing Faoud was about to shoot Stalker, Cool Breeze pushed him aside as he went for Faoud; Faoud shot Cool breze in the chest. Snake Eyes killed Faoud, while Stalker tended to the mortally wounded Cool Breeze. When Cool Breeze asked Stalker if he was crying, Stalker told him he wasn't. By the time the Joes returned to their desert base, Cool Breeze was dead. Stalker gave his dogtags to General Hawk, who was preparing a burial detail for all the Joes who had been killed during the mission. Stalker told Hawk Cool Brezze was "a real Joe."

Cool Breeze was one of the few G.I. Joe members who was created for the comics and didn't have a corresponding action figure. His death worked pretty well because it was in the middle of a storyline where a number of G.I. Joe members were killed, while at the same time a lot of new characters (whose action figures had just been released) were making their debut; thus, a lot of readers probably assumed Cool Breeze was a new figure in the toy line and didn't expect him to die.
