claremont-elaine-dream-pol-faceHistory:
(Dream Police#1 (fb) - BTS) - Shortly after her divorce, Elaine moved into a house with her 14-year-old son, Albert. They were happy for a time.

Eventually, Albert fell in with a bad crowd and got into trouble, and Elaine worried that this was her fault.

Regardless, Elaine had a recurring dream, every few days, where she was back in her home when times were good with Albert, and she enjoyed seeing him when he was younger and still a good boy.

Eventually, however, when Elaine had the dream in her home, Albert was not around. claremont-elaine-dream-pol-wpicture

(Dream Police#1 - BTS) - At 11:43 pm, the distraught Elaine's dream self called the Dream Police from her dream home in the Hollywood District, and Joe Thursday took the call, calming her down and assuring her that he and his partner, Frank Stafford, would be right there.

(Dream Police#1) - When Officers Thursday and Stafford arrived, Elaine invited them in, and she related her family events and how she had been enjoying a recurring dream of the good times until Albert stopped showing up.

Officer Thursday advised Elaine that it wasn't her fault that Albert had gotten into trouble, as everybody had free will, and Albert had made his own choices. Thursday also assured her not to be worried, as this sort of thing -- dream abandonment -- happened all the time, but that the echo (dream component) didn't have the right to not do his job during her dream.

(Dream Police#1 - BTS) - Officers Thursday and Stafford went to the bar called Slackers, where they found the echo of Albert doing shooters. He complained that Elaine had the same dream over and over again, the same role, the same house, the same conversations, etc. He was frustrated that she wasn't trying to do anything differently to apologize for whatever she may have done to Albert, but that she had just wanted to re-experience the same moments repeatedly, and that even for an echo, it got to be dull after awhile.

Officer Thursday explained how what the echo perceived as boring moments were islands of sanity for Elaine. As nothing else in her life was quiet and predictable, she enjoyed reliving the only time in her life when it was safe to love her son.

Convinced, the echo prepared to return to Elaine's dream after he finished his drink.

This is a fun and interesting one-shot comic. Give it a read.

I see zero reason that the stories and characters in this comic couldn't have occurred as part of the Dream Dimension associated with Reality-616, especially if it took place at the time of publication, as opposed to being part of the sliding timescale. That would be the pre-modern time period, before the Fantastic Four's spaceflight, after which superhumans became much more commonplace.
Additionally, we don't know how long Elaine had been having this recurring dream, possibly for many years.

This profile was completed 01/25/2026, but its publication was delayed as it was intended to represent the Dream Police for the Appendix 25th anniversary 's celebratory event.
