Powers/Abilities: As the Black Panther, K'Shamba is at peak physical fitness and athletic ability with a connection to the Panther God (Bast) that he embraces. His fighting ability and shooting aim has been honed through close-quarter combat. K'Shamba is proud of his home country of Wakanda and the Wakandan people, and is prepared to die for their independence. He is familiar with the political machinations of Wakanda; however, he has been unwillingly subjected to an unconscious connection to the devious will of Dr. Doom. How this will compete against the Panther God's influence is unrevealed.

History:

(Black Panther 2099#1 (fb)) - Around the current era on Earth-2992, the Mutant Registration Act was reinstated by the American government. But soon, every public hero and team resisted, culminating in a major battle in New York. The heroes lost: killed, imprisoned or hid.

(Black Panther 2099#1 (fb) - BTS) - Decades passed; public spectacles and heroics vanished, and Sentinels were stationed on major street corners as laws were obeyed and crime went down. Latveria endured through isolation with new blood Lucian following Victor Von Doom's blood succession as planned. Wakanda also survived but much weaker with the death of T'Challa (Black Panther) and his bloodline, resulting in a corrupt and elderly ruling council that left the nation withering. At some point, the death of one council member led to his young son K'Shamba installed as replacement, a proud Wakandan who railed against the stagnating Council. K'Shamba's wife M'Tolla was pregnant. There was no evidence of the unique Wakandan heart-shaped herb that augmented human abilities.

(Black Panther 2099#1) - One day, K'Shamba woke from a dream of a black panther devouring him and was deliberately called late by the Wakandan Council to prevent his influence. A fleet of Doombots suddenly attacked and took all Council members hostage; only K'Shamba briefly resisted. Outside communication was blocked. The weakened Wakanda fell in six weeks to Doom; once all signed an official surrender, they were released from dungeons separately; K'Shamba suspected Doom refrained from mass execution for fear of a mass revolt and so targeted the freed Council members individually. K'Shamba took his wife and fled the house but were stopped by a Doombot. A watchful resistance member destroyed the Doombot, and K'Shamba and M'Tolla escaped with him to the resistance group. K'Shamba fought bravely against Doom's rule and three weeks' later was ceded leadership. K'Shamba led a direct and successful assault on the capitol building, surprising Doom. Impressed by K'Shamba's warrior leadership, the resistance elders passed him the old Black Panther uniform and he accepted it humbly. Now the Wakandan people had a recognizable symbol leading them into battle, galvanizing support. Doombots fell and the Black Panther confronted Dr. Doom, who fled; self-liberation was achieved in less than six weeks. Wakandans bowed to their warrior king. But Doom had surreptitiously implanted a mind control device in K'Shamba and tested it quickly from afar as K'Shamba sat on his throne next to M'Tolla and his child.

This is not from the original 2099 universe but from the short-lived Marvel Knights 2099 world. It would be great to have them reappear somewhere.

M'Tolla was K'Shamba's wife. She was heavily pregnant when Dr. Doom invaded Wakanda using an fleet of Doombots. She fled with K'Shamba when he was finally released from the dungeons and gave birth weeks later as K'Shamba led the growing resistance against Doom. M'Tolla stood by K'Shamba when he took on the mantle of Black Panther and was made warrior king as Wakanda was liberated from Doom's rule. She later sat by his side as queen but was briefly concerned when she heard him speak out of turn, both unaware he was responding to Doom.
