History:

(Comedy Comics I#14/9 (fb) - BTS) - During WWII, US-based Norman's Nazi Gang coordinated with Nazi spy Beta Hurry to detonate a bomb at a Hollywood movie premiere. A master of disguise, Beta chose to dress as a witch so as to appear like a movie star coming from a costume party.

(Comedy Comics I#14/9) - By chance, the good-natured real-life witch Widjit Witch decided to attend the premiere and bumped into Beta, who was rushing with her bomb package. Confusion dominated as Beta thought Widjit was a fellow spy, while Widjit thought Beta was a fellow witch missing a flying broom. Widjit's pal Goobee Goblin muffled Beta's frustrated yells while Widjit mystically empowered an ordinary broom. Thinkinng Beta ill, Widjit forced the flummoxed Beta onto the broom and cast a spell that shot the broom off (with Beta on it) to Witchland far away. Soon after, two members of Norman's Nazi Gang approached Widjit, thinking she was Beta, but fled terrified when they realized she was a real witch.

The name Beta Hurry is a play on "better hurry" and the seductive WWI German spy Mata Hari.

The movie premiere is a Terry-Toon starring Gandy, referring to Gandy Goose, who first appeared in cartoons in 1938 and expanded into comics, first in 1942 with Timely Comics' Terry-Toons Comics, then other publishers.

Norman Nazi's Gang

Norman's Nazi Gang were Germans who sought to sabotage all American industry. Their Nazi spy Beta Hurry was sent to deliver a bomb to a Hollywood movie premiere dressed as a witch, but she bumped into real witch Widjit Witch, who sent the spy far away. Norman's Nazi Gang confused Widjit with their spy and thought she had a mask on, but became terrified and fled when they realized she was a real witch. They freely surrendered themselves to a nearby police station.
