aminedi-ds-XMA15-flight-facePowers/Abilities: Aminedi could transform into apparently invisible and intangible air particles that allowed him to move at super-speed and cut with razor sharpness. He could also levitate.
    It may have been that his great speed made him only seem to be invisible, as his features were completely blurred.

    Based on the speed at which he traveled, his upper body may be visible or he may only be seen by the effects and/or energies of his winds. Regardless of his visibility and/or tangibility, he could speak and be heard by those around him.

    Via his cutting wind, Aminedi could slice through human flesh and bone -- even someone moving at without any harm to himself. He could even pain the Blob, whose skin was virtually impenetrable, although he did not actually appear to lacerate his flesh.

Weight: Unrevealed (difficult to approximate, but at human density and his build, likely 225 lbs.)
Eyes: Solid bright yellow (sometimes solid white)
Hair: Pale yellow
Skin: Unrevealed (his red face, chest and shoulder; his orange lower arms and upper legs; and his yellow lower legs may be costume/uniform or his skin; some images definitely make his "face" appear to be a mask; others do not)
Note: He was never seen in any "normal" form, and what his features were prior to his powers developing are unrevealed. It is also possible that he was born with that appearance; if not, it is unrevealed whether he could ever return to "normal" appearance

History:

aminedi-ds-NMAn7-ss(X-Men I Annual#15/2 (fb) - BTS) - An Iraqi mutant, Aminedi was named after the cutting wind of the Iraqi deserts. His ability to strike unseen earned him the alias of "the Invisible One."

(X-Men I Annual#15/2 (fb) - BTS) - Aminedi was recruited into Desert Sword, intended to be the superhuman arm of the Iraqi military, led by Sirocco and also consisting of Black Raazer, Veil and the Saudi Arabian Arabian Knight, the latter of whom had been seemingly pressed into service via his wives and children being held hostage by the Iraqi regime. However, the Knight was secretly an agent of the Pantheon, and his captured "family members" were actually fellow Pantheon agents.

(New Mutants I Annual#7/2 (fb) - BTS) -  Freedom Force members Avalanche, Blob, Crimson Commando, Pyro and Super Sabre were sent to Kuwait City to transfer German physicist Reinhold Kurtzmann from the Kuwaiti resistance safehouse in which he was being held to allied forces. In failing to get Kurtzmann out of Kuwait, they were to terminate him rather than allow Iraqi forces to obtain him. aminedi-ds-NMAn7-cc

(New Mutants I Annual#7/2 (fb) - BTS) - Desert Sword was also sent to Kuwait City to prevent Freedom Force from liberating Kurtzmann.

(New Mutants I Annual#7/2) <January 14, shortly after 11:22 pm> - As Freedom Force traveled through Kuwait City, Desert Sword ambushed them, with the invisible Aminedi unexpectedly ambushing the speedster Super Sabre as he returned from a reconnaissance run.

    As Veil generated a thick fog, Crimson Commando's technology detected multiple beings approaching them just before Aminedi severed his right arm mid-antebrachium.

    After Raazer had wounded Avalanche and Veil and Sirocco had dropped Pyro, Aminedi and the rest of Desert Sword confronted Blob, and Veil advised him that they held Kurtzmann and asked if he was really worth dying for...in which case Desert Sword was ready to comply.

(X-Men Annual I#15/2) <12:21 AM (see comments)> - After Blob charged them, Veil created a masking fog and instructed Aminedi to strike quickly. Aminedi advised her that he did not need a woman ordering him about and -- as he slashed at the back of the Blob's knee, causing him severe pain that caused him to drop to the ground, if not actually injuring him -- that quickly was the only way he knew to strike.

    Avalanche subsequently cast a rock to strike Sirocco, knocking Kurtzmann from his hands, and Blob and Pyro grabbed Kurtzmann and fled to the dust-off zone, while Avalanche remained with the wounded Crimson Commando.

    Sirocco subsequently ordered the Arabian Knight to accompany Veil and Raazer to recover Kurtzmann while he took Aminedi to destroy the others.

(X-Men Annual I#15/2) - As they approached Avalanche and the Commando, Sirocco instructed Aminedi to go no further as their soldiers in Kuwait had made preparations to prevent the unlawful use of the airport facilities.

    After Avalanche and Commando ran into and were incapacitated by concealed land mines, Aminedi and Sirocco flew in, and Sirocco advised that they watch the gasping American draw their final breaths. 

(X-Factor I Annual#6/2) - While Aminedi enjoyed his enemies seemingly futilely gasping of air, both he and Sirocco were surprised when Avalanche sent a wave of rocks to cover them. Avalanche subsequently took the gravely injured Commando, and rushed to the dust-off zone.

(X-Factor I Annual#6/2 - BTS) - Pyro slew Veil and Blob smashed both Raazer and the Knight, severely injuring the latter, and they fled.

    Avalanche made it to a rendezvous with American forces with Commando, but as Iraqi forces amassed, they left Blob and Pyro behind.

(X-Factor I Annual#6/2) - Aminedi, Sirocco and Raazer caught Blob and Pyro between themselves and multiple Iraqi helicopters, forcing their surrender.

(X-Men Annual II#2 (fb) - BTS) - Xavier's School reviewed the most recent reports of the Legacy Virus, Moira MacTaggert stated the newest casualty was Iraqi military agent Aminedi.

    Aminedi was really deadly, and unless he had limited endurance and could only engage a couple such actions before exhausting himself, he could have slain or crippled everyone but the Blob in a few strikes.

    It is such a comic book and other fiction trope for a villain to just watch a victim suffer, or put him/her/them in some slow-moving death-trap...only for him/her/them to recover and then defeat the villain. Aminedi could have decapitated Avalanche and Crimson Commando while they were gasping for air.
   
    Obviously this story was written during 1991's Gulf War, aka Operation: Desert Storm, but that's topical due to the sliding timescale. Of course, there is no shortage of conflicts involving the Middle East, and these stories can just move along with the sliding timescale, taking place perhaps 7 years or so before the current year in "Marvel Time." However, the month, day, and time may be accurate...sort of...
    The first arc started January 14, 11:22 pm; the second January 14, 12:21 am (presumably they meant January 15, or that the first part started January 13...); and the third January 14, 2:17 am (ditto...).

    Aminedi previously had a sub-profile in the Desert Sword profile, originally published  09/07/2013.

    This profile was completed 07/22/2026, but its publication was delayed as it was intended for the Appendix 25th anniversary 's celebratory event to represent Freedom Force's stories and characters.
