History: (Spider-Noir television episode "Betrayal" (fb)) - During World War I, James Addison was among over one million American soldiers who took part in the Meuse-Argonne offensive. He was captured by the Germans and held in a POW camp in France that performed experiments as part of a secret Super-Soldier program. Prisoners were injected with irradiated organic and mineral materials, which altered their genes. Many suffered lethal mutations or were altered on a physical level, but Addison was among those that remained visibly unaffected and were liberated during an allied offensive.
(Spider-Noir television episode "Double Cross" (fb) - BTS) - After the war's end, Addison returned home to New York City. He married a woman named Vera, though she held little love for him. Jimmy remained close friends with Flint Marko, his war buddy from the POW camp.
(Spider-Noir television episode "Betrayal" (fb) - BTS) - About 14 years after the end of the war, Addison, Marko, and others from their camp were contacted by Doctor Alethea Faber, who was running a study on the former POWs at the VA hospital in Queens. Dr. Faber knew all about their experience in France and promised to help them; however, in reality was secretly running her own experiments that activated the latent powers in Marko, Addison, Lonnie Lincoln and others.
(Spider-Noir television episode "Treaed Lightly" (fb) - BTS) - About three months after starting to see Dr. Faber, Jimmy Addison discovered the ability to generate fire from his body.
(Spider-Noir television episode "Double Cross" (fb) - BTS) - Addison lost his job because of the Great Depression and had to move to a Hooverville (shantyown) with Vera. He began taking jobs burning things for insurance scams, though Vera kept spending all the money on luxuries for herself. Flint worked as a bodyguard for crime boss Silvermane's favorite singer, Cat Hardy, and introduced her to Addison. She paid him a large sum of money to kill Silvermane and to make it look like he just died in a fire.
(Spider-Noir television episode "Step Into My Office" (fb) - BTS) - Addison burned down Silvermane's mansion but failed to kill the man himself, who got away. His involvement became known, and Silvermane's right-hand man, Winston, hired several PIs, including Ben Reilly and Pat Donegal, to track Addison down.
(Spider-Noir television episode "Step Into My Office") - Addison was drinking alone in a club when he noticed Ben Reilly following him. Addison quickly got up and left, and Reilly followed him outside. Addison warned Reilly against pursuing him and burst into a run. Reilly gave chase but got hit by a car driven by Donegal. Reilly was left lying in the street, while Donegal continued chasing Addison in his car. Addison led Donegal to a Standard Oil depot, where Donegal asked him to surrender peacefully. Addison instead engulfed his body in flames and advanced on Donegal, who despite being terrified fired three shots at close range, killing Addison on the spot. His body fell on a fuel spill, causing a minor explosion.
(Spider-Noir television episode "Tread Lightly" (fb) - BTS) - When her husband did not come home, Vera knew that he was dead. She took all of the money and moved to the Geoffrey Hotel.
(Spider-Noir
television episode "Step Into My Office" - BTS) - Addison's body was
identified and taken to a morgue. Reilly's reporter friend Robbie
Robertson got a tip about the unusual body and went to check it out
with Reilly. They noticed that Addison's body had three bullet holes
but no signs of being in a fire.
Donegal tried to demand a higher pay for information about Addison, for which Silvermane had him kidnapped, tortured, and killed.
(Spider-Noir television episode "Tread Lightly" - BTS) - Hired to investigate Flint Marko's disappearance, Reilly visited his apartment and found a war photo of him and Addison in the company of other soldiers. Robertson also continued working the Addison story and visited his place in Hooverville. There, Robbie encountered Lonnie Lincoln, informed him of Jimmy's death, and learned where Vera was staying.
(Spider-Noir television episode "Double Cross" - BTS) - Ben Reilly connected all of the pieces that pointed to Cat Hardy as the one who hired Addison.
(Spider-Noir television episode "Nightmare on a Gurney" - BTS) - While being experimented on by Dr. Faber, Reilly hallucinated hearing Addison's last words.
