Powers/Abilities: Sunfire possessed the mutant ability to generate and project superheated solar plasma, enabling him to unleash powerful fire blasts and achieve self-propelled flight. He was highly resistant to extreme heat and immune to his own plasma output, with his abilities fueled and enhanced by solar energy, making him a formidable aerial combatant in the mutant–human war.

History:

(X-Men: The Animated Series cartoon - "One Man's Worth, Part I" - BTS) - The mutant known as Sunfire grew up in a dystopian reality where Charles Xavier was murdered before he could form the X-Men. His death leading to an all-out war between humanity and mutantkind. As a member of Magneto's Mutant Resistance, Sunfire fought alongside fellow mutants against human forces determined to eradicate their kind.

(X-Men: The Animated Series cartoon - "One Man's Worth - Part I" - BTS) - Much of Westchester County had been reduced to rubble by the ongoing conflict. Amid the devastation, the Mutant Resistance established its base near the ruins of what had once been the Xavier Mansion, using the symbolic site as both shelter and defiance against human oppression.

(X-Men: The Animated Series cartoon - "One Man's Worth - Part I") - The Resistance's encampment soon came under attack by waves of aircraft and heavily armored terrain vehicles piloted by androids sent by the human oppressors. When a massive ground vehicle appeared to gain the upper hand against Magneto who was rescuing Mimic, the Resistance rallied. Sunfire, Angel, and Rogue took to the skies, joining Colossus, Sabretooth, Storm, Wild Child, and Wolverine in a coordinated counterattack. Striking from above and below, the mutants overwhelmed and destroyed another wave of enemy forces.

    The battle escalated further when a large transport ship arrived carrying the Avengers of this dystopian reality, led by an alternate version of Captain America. The Avengers confronted the Mutant Resistance but were swiftly defeated when another Resistance member, aided by Rogue, trapped them in an energy field and hurled them miles away from the battlefield.

    With the fighting momentarily subdued, Sunfire and the Mutant Resistance regrouped to tend to their wounded. Their respite was brief, however, as Bishop and Shard arrived from an alternate reality. They revealed that they were attempting to stop Trevor Fitzroy and Nimrod from assassinating Charles Xavier, an event that would create this divergent dystopian timeline.

    Overhearing their conversation, Wolverine and Storm introduced themselves to the time travelers. After learning about the legendary X-Men of Bishop's past and their mission to preserve Xavier's life, both mutants were inspired to help. As yet another wave of enemy forces descended on the Resistance, Sunfire and Mimic were seen combining their powers to destroy an enemy aircraft. With the Resistance once again fully engaged in battle, Storm and Wolverine made the decision to join Bishop and Shard on their mission to prevent the catastrophic divergence.

Earth-95099 was inspired by Earth-295, the Age of Apocalypse, with the exception that Apocalypse didn't take over the world.

Eric and Julia Lewald's amazing X-Men The Art and Making of The Animated Series book shows the model sheets for the Avengers, labeling these characters as the human assault forces, but this is just a label similar to calling Spider-Man an arachnid mutant as the creators of the show tried to put in as many cameo's as possible. On that same note, the Mutant Resistance included a character resembling Hank Pym's Giant-Man called Giant Mutant, Pym's himself was wearing his Goliath outfit as part of the human assault forces/Avengers.
