History:

(Uncanny X-Men I#133 (fb) - BTS) - At an unrevealed point in time, Rosen joined the elite cadre of mercenaries employed by the Hellfire Club to serve as their security guard. Rosen was assigned to the Club's Manhattan location.

(Uncanny X-Men I#133 - BTS) - Rosen worked security on the night the X-Men infiltrated the New York chapter of the Hellfire Club. The mutant heroes fought the Inner Circle and lost, with Harry Leland leaving Wolverine to die in the sewers. Rosen and his fellow security guards, including Wade Cole, Angelo Macon, Murray Reese and the future Godshredder, were sent into the club's sub-basements to retrieve the X-Man's body.

(Uncanny X-Men I#133 - BTS) - Rosen and the others grew frustrated when they hadn't found a body after hours of searching.

(Uncanny X-Men I#133) - Just before they gave up, they spotted Wolverine who had been hiding from them on a nearby ceiling. The X-Man attacked with his claws, maiming and mutilating Angelo Macon and Murray Reese. Wade Cole slowed him down when he fired four rounds into his belly. Cole ordered Rosen to stay back and cover him while he went to check if Wolverine was actually dead. Logan played possum, allowing Cole to come close enough so he could claw him as well.

(Uncanny X-Men I#133) - Rosen was the only Hellfire Club guard left standing. He ordered his opponent to stop, but Wolverine noticed his voice was trembling. Correctly assuming his foe was terrified, the mutant hero began to mess with the man's mind. He calmly explained that he was "virtually unkillable with claws that can slice through vanadium steel like a hot knife through butter." Properly intimidated, Rosen dropped his rifle and was ready to surrender. To his horror, Wolverine still charged at him with his claws out, hoisting him up in the air and threatening to slice him up if he didn't tell him everything he knew about the Inner Circle's whereabouts.

(Uncanny X-Men I#133 - BTS) - After realizing Rosen didn't have much useful information to offer, Wolverine knocked him out so he wouldn't sound the alarm. Afterwards, Logan used his enhanced senses to pick up and track Nightcrawler's distinctive scent.

Comments: Created by Chris Claremont, John Byrne, Terry Austin.

Unlike his mutilated colleagues Cole, Reese and Macon, Rosen has made no further appearances to date. Or maybe he has, the Hellfire Club's goons all dress alike and with their masks on they're pretty much interchangeable. It might have been interesting if this one, dramatic encounter with Wolverine left him with a desire for revenge. It might even have led him to volunteer for Donald Pierce's cybernetic conversion process, figuring it would give him a leg up in his desire to get even.
