History:
(Lovers I#55) - While working as a governess for Mrs. Morris, one day Peggy took the Morris' dog Prince for a walk in the park. In the park, Prince encountered Empress, who was out for a walk with Tod Dunbar. The two introduced themselves to each other and Peggy quickly hit it off with Tod. Tod asked to see Peggy that evening for dancing and she agreed, but privately Peggy was concerned that she might be dating outside of her social class; if Tod was a wealthy man, he'd be disappointed to learn she was an "ordinary governess."
That evening, Tod picked up Peggy at the Morris' home, believing it to be her home. When Peggy saw the expensive car Tod was driving, she feared he was too wealthy for her. Tod took her to a ballroom where they danced and Peggy enjoyed herself. In the days that followed they continued to fall in love as they went sailing, relaxing on the beach, driving, dancing, dining and picnicing. Peggy was careful to maneuver their dates so they coincided with her free nights or days off.
Despite her happiness with Tod, Peggy feared how he'd react when he learned her true occupation. When he told her he had to leave town for a month he started to propose to her but Peggy stopped him, telling him there was something she had to tell him first, but now she couldn't.
In the days that followed Peggy kept hoping Tod would call her but he didn't. Mrs. Morris advised Peggy that just as love had held her marriage together, love would keep her with Tod. Peggy disputed that, noting Mr. Morris had known the truth about Mrs. Morris before they were married but Tod still didn't know the truth about her.
The following week, Peggy accompanied the Morris family in a vacation to Palm Beach, Florida. One day she went out with Prince for a walk while wearing her governess uniform when she again encountered Empress. Suddenly Tod appeared, dressed in chauffeur's uniform. In an instant, the two realized they'd both been deceiving each other but weren't from different social classes after all. Tod kissed Peggy.

Tod Dunbar was a chauffeur who first met Peggy Preston while walking his employer's dog, Empress. Tod borrowed his employer's car so he could date Peggy and impress her because he wrongly believed her to be a wealthy socialite. Tod fell in love with Peggy and asked her to marry him just before he had to accompany his employer on vacation in Palm Beach, Florida. Peggy refused, unable to admit her true career as a governess, but soon after he encountered her in Palm Beach while they were both dressed in their uniforms. Realizing the mistakes that had driven them apart were meaningless, Tod kissed Peggy.

Empress was a female black dog owned by Tod Dunbar's employer. Tod was taking Empress for a walk when he first met Peggy while she was walking Prince. Peggy believed Empress was Tod's own dog. Later, Tod took Empress for a walk at Palm Beach, Florida while in his chauffeur's uniform and again met Peggy and Prince; just as the dogs helped bring them together, the dogs helped reconcile them.

Mrs. Morris was Peggy's employer. She came from "the wrong side of the tracks" but testified that she and Mr. Morris were truly in love and love had kept them together. She hired Peggy to care for her child and advised her in her relationship with Tod Dunbar.
