History:
(Peter Porker, The Spectacular Spider-Ham#15/1 (fb) -
BTS) - The heroic vigilante Spider-Ham (secretly Peter Porker) fought the villainous Hobgobbler several times.
(Peter Porker, The Spectacular Spider-Ham#15/1) - On
his turkey-glider, Hobgobbler smashed into Andy Warthog's evening
party, startling many of the celebrity guests there. He chose singer
Barbara Mandrill as the best candidate to fetch the highest ransom,
then sped off on his glider. Also attending the party, Porker changed
stealthily into his hero garb and gave chase, narrowly avoiding his
foe's tomato-bombs. Using a web-slingshot, Spider-Ham leaped onto
Hobgobbler on his turkey-glider, but it caused the scoundrel to drop
his hostage and Spider-Ham swung down to rescue her while Hobgobbler
escaped (again)
(Peter Porker, The Spectacular Spider-Ham#17/2) -
Infuriated at Bee-Yonder's
manipulations, Hulk-Bunny went on a violent rampage, clobbering many,
including Hobgobbler.
(Spider-Ham I#2) - Thinking
Larval Earth a mockery and wanting to obliterate it,
the extradimensional Kang-6309 arrived and turned some of the super
folk monochromatic under his control, including Hobgobbler, and they began fighting their
still-colored counterparts.
(Spider-Ham I#3) - Hobgobbler was part of the massive
fight between Kang-6309's monochromatic forces and the Earth-8311
defenders.
(Spider-Ham I#5) - Having corrupted Kang-6309, the
manipulative media
villain Mojo stepped in and imprisoned every super-powered being (all returned to color) from
Earth-8311 in glass bell jars in the Mojoverse, intending to recast
them into other animated roles. But Spider-Ham duped Mojo into letting
Black Colt speak with his hypersonic whinny and all were released. The Bee-Yonder
returned everyone home (except Mojo).
(Spider-Ham: Great Power, No Responsibility) -
Searching for his lost key to the city, Spider-Ham chanced upon
Hobgobbler on his turkey-glider near the Brooklyn Bridge and criticized him
for copying Green Gobbler's gimmick before easily clobbering him.
Spider-Ham then took the bound Hobgobbler to the Rat Maximum Security
Pound. The Security Sloth on duty expected the villain to be released
very quickly due to the lax super-powered criminal justice system.
Comments:
Created by Steve Mellor. Based loosely on Hobgoblin created by Roger
Stern & John Romita Jr.
Hobgobbler is the Larval Earth version of
Earth-616's Hobgoblin (probably Ned Leeds, but also possibly Roderick
Kingsley or Jason Macendale (let's stick to the most common ones)).
Barbara
Mandrill is the Larval Earth version of the real-life renown
singer Barbara Mandrell (her signature song was "I Was Country When
Country Wasn't Cool", so perhaps Mandrill's is "I Was Porker's When
Porker Wasn't Cool").
Earth-8311's Hobgobbler's name is unrevealed. Going
with the comedy theme, perhaps he could be Jason Macandcheese (as a
play on
Jason Macendale). Or maybe Roderick Wingsley?
Hobgobbler appeared in a general line-up of past and
potential Larval Earth characters in Marvel Age#2. There was no
accompanying story.

CLARIFICATIONS
:
Hobgobbler of Earth-8311 has no known connections to:
Barbara Mandrill was a popular country and western
singer who attended Andy Warthog's party along with many other celebrities. She was the target of Hobgobbler's latest fiendish
plot to hold a popular personality for ransom. When Peter Porker jumped in
as the heroic Spider-Ham and fought Hobgobbler in midair, Barbara fell.
Spider-Ham stopped fighting so he could rescue her and she was very
thankful, quickly ready to tell her difficult life story.
