History:
(Eternals I#11) - General Greshkov was one of the leaders of the Russian Army who convened a meeting with Russia's secretary of defense at the Kremlin to discuss the threat posed by Nezarr the Calculator, one of the enigmatic Celestials who was exploring Siberia. Greshkov viewed Nezarr as an immediate threat to Russia and intended to stop the Celestial while it was still in a largely uninhabited space. As he made his pronouncements, Greshkov found General Vulcanin disagreed with him. Noting he was a consistent voice of moderation, Greshkov wondered how Vulcanin had risen so high in rank. Vulcanin observed Nezarr had yet to perform any hostile actions, but Greshkov insisted that as Nezarr was an extraterrestrial, it was all the more important for Russia to communicate to the Celestials that their nation was not for the taking. Greshkov had an image of Nezarr projected on a large screen; seeing how large Nezarr was helped convince the secretary he was a threat. Vulcanin continued to object but Greshkov insisted that only power would triumph and they had to act quickly; the secretray agreed and gave Greshkov authorization to form an attack against Nezarr, rather than pursue Vulcanin's suggestion of communicating with the Celestial.
General Greshkov went to a missile command center and ordered the launch of a missile carrying a h-bomb, which they intended to fire at Nezarr in Siberia. However, Nezarr was conscious of their attack before it was even made and cast an illusion into the minds of Greshkov and his staff so that they seemed to see the missile launch, then reverse course when it reached Nezarr and reverse course, heading toward the missile command center; the terror of the missile's approach caused Greshkov and all of his staff to suffer massive cardiac arrests, which apparently killed them all.
