History:
(Avengers VII#59 (fb) - BTS) - The Devil's Posse were a group of cursed gunslingers who had made deals with the demon Mephisto in exchange for serving him at a later date.

(Avengers VII#59) - Circa 1868 A.D., after hearing of a man who would grant someone's most violent desires, Mr. Dredge went out to a crossroads three days after a man was hung there and the demon Mephisto possessed the corpse, offering to make Dredge the fastest shot in all of Arizona. The uneducated but slightly suspicious Dredge signed the contract with Mephisto with reading it and immediately grumbled that he didn't feel any different. Mephisto offered his personal pistol to Dredge and upon touching it, Dredge's entire was painfully and demonically transformed, at which point Mephisto welcomed him to the Devil's Posse. Not long after, the Devil's Posse used an extraterrestrial Shi'ar Sky Train to round up several people as slaves and when the Train was halted by the outlaws Reno Phoenix and the Starbrand Kid, the Devil's Posse emerged from the Train with guns drawn. The Starbrand Kid then held off the Devil's Posse while Reno worked to rescue the townspeople from Mephisto himself. Despite holding off and even shooting several of the Devil's Posse, the Starbrand Kid was nonetheless shot several times and when Reno chased Mephisto into the sky, another group of the Devil's Posse appeared from the clouds to fire on Reno. Reno managed to shoot down several of the Posse but more emerged from the clouds in their place. Before Reno was overwhelmed, however, the time-traveling Avengers Echo and Valkyrie appeared and helped turn the tide against the cloud-based Posse members. As Reno and the Avengers battled Mephisto, Dredge and his band of the Devil's Posse moved in to kill the Starbrand Kid, only to be met by the time-traveling Iron Man and Thor, who took down the entire Posse in one shot.

Dredge

Dredge was a man who sought to become the fastest gunslinger in Arizona. Hearing rumors of a man who would grant a person's most violent wishes if visited at a crossroads three days after a hanging, Mr. Dredge acted on the rumors and found himself facing the demon Mephisto in the form of a possessed corpse. Asking if Mephisto could truly make him the fastest gun in Arizona, Dredge learned that his wishes could be fulfilled and Mephisto presented Dredge with a contract to grant Dredge's wishes in exchange for later serving Mephisto at a certain point in time. The uneducated Dredge wasn't much on reading so Mephisto nudged Dredge to sign without fully reading and once the deal was done, Dredge claimed he didn't feel any different but when Mephisto offered Dredge his own pistol, Dredge's entire arm was demonically transformed upon touching the gun and he was welcomed into the Devil's Posse. Not long after, Mephisto contacted Dredge for his services in killing the outlaw Starbrand Kid and Dredge subsequently led a band of the Devil's Posse in using a Shi'ar Sky Train to capture townspeople as slaves in an effort to lure the Starbrand Kid into an ambush. Once the Train was stopped, Dredge and his men emerged from the Train and fired on the Starbrand Kid, hitting him several times despite the Kid taking down many of the Posse. Admitting that he was fulfilling his part of the bargain with Mephisto to kill the Kid, Dredge and the Devil's Posse were soon confronted by the time-traveling Iron Man and Thor, who took down Dredge and his men in one massive shot.

Dredge possessed a demonic arm that made him the fastest draw in the entire state of Arizona.
