Powers/Abilities: Coga had the ordinary abilities of a young lion, including great strength, speed and agility. He had powerful jaws and claws on his paws. He was loyal to Jann and responsive to her entreaties.

History:

(Jungle Tales I#4) - Coga was a young lion cub when his father fought another male lion. Jann of the Jungle took Coga away from the fight to protect him; when it seemed as though the two lions had killed each other, Jann decided to keep the cub as her pet and dubbed him Coga. Jann's friend Pat Mahoney disagreed with her about adopting the cub, fearing he'd be dangerous when he grew to be a full-grown lion but Jann believed her kidness would be rewarded.

    As Coga grew to his full size, Pat continued to distrust him and told his friend Kuba to keep an eye Coga. That very night, a lion attacked Kuba but Pat helped drive him away. Jann had placed Coga into a pen and didn't believe he could have attacked Kuba. When Pat saw Coga was still in his pen he was about to shoot him but Jann shoved away Pat's rifle and ordered Coga to run into the jungle to hide. Because she'd been taking care of Coga, Jann feared he wouldn't be able to fend for himself in the wild.

    Jann discovered the lion which had attacked Kuba was actually Coga's father, who had not died after all. Jann captured Coga's father and tied him to a tree, which helped draw Coga out into the open, proving to Pat Mahoney that Coga hadn't attacked Kuba. Coga removed the ropes Jann had used to bind his father to the tree, then playfully frollicked with his father. Coga gave Jann a farewell lick on the face then went into the jungle with his father. Jann explained to Pat that Coga's father had simply been trying to free his son from captivity.
