(Sub-Mariner Comics I#15/4 (fb) - BTS) - When Judas became almost bankrupt, he hired Buggsie and Killer to steal the Jodphur Ruby from him, intending to collect on the insurance from the item. However, to further increase the fraud, Judas left a paste replica of the ruby for Buggsie and Killer to take and hid the real ruby on his pet parrot.
(Sub-Mariner Comics I#15/4) - Judas went out one night with his wife to create a window for Buggsie and Killer to commit the robbery. Buggsie and Killer stole the paste replica but when they were startled by the parrot it drew the attention of Judas' butler, Buffers. The two men killed Buffers and fled.
The police were unable to discover any clues to the identity of the thieves/killers, but the super-hero the Angel involved himself in the investigation and dropped in on Judas' apartment while he comforted his wife, who was upset at Buffers' death. The Angel discovered a mechanical pencil with an inscription for the Golden Goose Bar and Grill which the police had overlooked. The Angel checked with Judas to confirm the stolen gem was insured and asked Judas whether his business was doing well; this flustered Judas, who started to ask if the Angel was accusing him, but the Angel claimed it was a "routine question" then departed.
After recovering the paste replica from Buggsie and Killer and recognizing it for what it was, the Angel investigated Judas at the local chamber of commerce and learned of his financial woes. While Judas waited for Buggsie and Killer to check in - not realizing both men were dead - the Angel entered his apartment and showed him the ruby replica, accusing him of arranging the theft and insurance fraud. When the Angel quickly found the real ruby with Judas' parrot, Judas drew a pistol. Before Judas could shoot, the Angel dropped the ruby. Judas ordered him to pick it up and throw it to him but instead the Angel grabbed the edge of the carpet Judas was standing on and tugged it, causing Judas to fall over backwards and through a window; Judas fell from the apartment to his death.

"Judas Cain" is one of those cases of nominative determinism. No way can you be an honest, law-abiding citizen with a name like that!

Buggsie had seen the newspaper headlines about the butler's murder and was eager to leave town. As Buggsie and Killer went to their hideout in a tenement building, Buggsie noticed the Angel shadowing them. The two men arranged a noose so that when the Angel burst into their apartment he'd be snared in the noose. However, the Angel's feet were free and he kicked Buggsie, knocking him out and killed Killer. Freeing himself, the Angel revived Buggsie and demanded he reveal who had hired him but Buggsie refused and ran away from the Angel, so frantic that he ran through a window and fell to the pavement below to his death.

Judas Cain had a pet parrot. When he decided to commit insurance fraud with the Jodphur Ruby, he hid the real gem on his parrot and arranged for Buggsie and Killer to steal a paste replica. The Angel retrieved the real ruby from the parrot.

The Jodphur Ruby was a valuable gem which Judas Cain owned and had heavily insured for $100,000. Judas hid the ruby on his parrot then left out a paste replica for Buggsie and Killer to steal so he could collect the insurance without even sacrificing the gem. However, the Angel recovered the paste copy and recognized it for what it was. Investigating Judas' apartment, he quickly found the real ruby with the parrot.
