History:

(Kid Colt Outlaw#88/2 (fb) - BTS) - Nancy Blade lived in the Texan town of Rawhide with her father as sheriff. The town was troubled by several ruffians who would harass locals and newcomers, but they broke no laws, so nothing could really be done.

(Kid Colt Outlaw#88/2) - The fugitive Kid Colt entered Rawhide and was soon harried by the troublemakers, but soon made them scatter. Nancy came up and thanked him for clearing the thugs away. Kid Colt gave a fake name to cover his fugitive identity and by chance, the two began seeing more of each other in town, their mutual attraction rising. One day at a diner, Kid Colt was about to confess his true identity when Nancy interrupted and introduced her father, the sheriff, who immediately recognized Kid Colt from Wanted posters. The sheriff accused Kid Colt of wanting to operate in the area by winning a woman's affections, and he tried to draw a gun on the outlaw, but Kid Colt escaped and fled on his horse. As a posse was rounded up to track Kid Colt, Nancy pleaded with her father to listen to Kid Colt's side of the story and that she loved him, but he dismissed her off. She later rode off in search of Kid Colt, calling out for him, but this drew the attention of the nearby Apache tribe led by Running Bear, who was on a war footing. He captured Nancy and sentenced her to death, but Kid Colt was close by. The outlaw challenged Running Bear to a fight for Nancy's freedom and won, but insisted that his presence be kept a secret; Running Bear was honorable and freed Nancy. Soon after, Kid Colt feigned a chance meeting on horseback near Rawhide and lied by confirming her father's suspicion that he was just using her to settle down. Nancy felt betrayed and upset as they parted, but Kid Colt was also saddened as he had fallen in love with her, but realized his outlaw life offered her little in life.

CLARIFICATIONS :
Nancy Blade has no known connections to:

Running Bear

Running Bear was chieftain of the local Apaches near the small town of Rawhide, Texas, where Nancy Blade lived. When Kid Colt fled the town, Nancy rode after him, pursuing their mutual affection. But the local Apaches were on the warpath and she was captured and sentenced to death. Camped nearby, Kid Colt heard the skirmish and came to Nancy's rescue by challenging Running Bear to a fight in the shadows. After an intense wrestle, Running Bear was defeated. Kid Colt insisted on keeping his presence a secret so that Nancy would not follow. Running Bear was honorable and freed the woman, also keeping Kid Colt's secret.
